myGtkMenu with menu generating script |
|
Hi all,
Frustrated about not having an independant menu which looked pretty, I've create a script to generate a menu for myGtkMenu.
It sorts the .desktop icons based on the xdg hierarchy file, so everything should look cool and nice. If any programs fall outside the hierarchy file, then they are assigned to Other... so nothing is left out!!! Yay!!!
To use it,
1. Install pet
2. Open a console and type
myGtkMeny /root/.config/myGtkMenu/myMenu.txt
3. Click Utility -> Generate myGtkMenu
4. Waite till Finish prompt appears.
5. To use the menu type
myGtkMeny /root/.config/myGtkMenu/myMenu.txt
If you use tint2, you can assign a desktop file filled with
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=myGtkMenu
Exec=myGtkMenu /root/.config/myGtkMenu/myMenu.txt
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=X-Desktop
and add the line
launcher_item_app = /usr/share/applications/tint2.desktop
to your tint2rc file.
This is especially helpful if you want to use tint2 with beryl or compiz when running them as a sole window manager!!! like me!
Tested on Lucid and Precise... Enjoy!!!
Found a bug in 0.1- mini icons don't show
Fixed in 0.2
