I did notice that with your gtkdialog.pet it has no examples with it. So I redid the pet so now it does come with the examples.

I Can upload here if you would want me to.

Cheers

Those examples are very useful.
They should have been kept in package.

y/n bug frugal ataSDD/HD installation?

#64 Post by duh »

Hallo,
in hope You could help or control me:

Why this Dpup is working like a charm via USB-stick frugaly at the actual same physical machine?
Inner frugaly with SATA-SDD-drive or HD-drive with no fortune.
What results in following system stop:

----
failed
Dumping last lines of /tmp/bootinit.log
ls: /lib/keymaps/#*.gz: No such file or directory / #*.gz would do

Dumping last lines of kernel.log k....log n/a
<5>[ 1.469211] sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesnt support DPO or FUA

<6>[ 1.470015] sda1 sda2 sda3 <sda5 sda6 sda7>
<5>[ 1.471269] sda 2:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk
<6>[ 1.471306] Freeing unused kernel memory: 452 k freed

Pausing for 60 seconds.....

Loading drivers needed to access disk drives
Searching for puppy files .... p.-sq.5.X.3.6.2.1.sfs not found. Dropping out to init-ramdisk-console
----
Bootinit.log:

ls: /lib/keymaps/#*.gz No Such File or Directory --> n.s.F/D
cut: can't open '/sys/bus/pci/devices/*/modalias: --> n.s.F/D
Opening /proc/modules: --> n.s.F/D
Opening /proc/modules: --> n.s.F/D
/sys/block: --> n.s.F/D
grep: /proc/partitions: --> n.s.F/D
ls: /sys/block/*/: --> n.s.F/D
ls: /sys/block: --> n.s.F/D
Opening /proc/modules: --> n.s.F/D
mount: mounting none on /proc/bus/usb failed: ---> n.s.F/D
/sys/block: --> n.s.F/D
Opening /proc/moduls: --> n.s.F/D
--------- end of bootinit.log

kernel.log isn't given in /tmp

As Dpup is always fit to run newest OPENCPN chartplotter Im very much
interested in an advice (except using USB/CD).
Is this kernel, initscript or time critical as USB and CD load slower than HD/SDD ?
( /#*.gz --> n.s.F/D SPACE following slash: / #*.gz :funktion o.k.)

Thank You for Your kind help

Here are the gtkdialog examples packaged so they can be launched
quickly from Start menu. They are located next to geany in the start menu.

The scripts are in

/usr/share/doc/gtkdialog/examples/

The version of mhwaveedit that is included in this exprimo
supports ladspa filters.

You can check this by installing this pet and then
opening a sound file with mhwaveedit

At the bottom of effects menu there will be more effects listed.

LADSPA audio effects for exprimo

#67 Post by don570 »

I found the website that specializes in LADSPA audio effects.

I made a pet package to quickly install all of them at once...

It needs a version of mhwaveedit that supports plugins
which exprimo currently does. They work in Audacity as well,
but Audacity has many effects built-in.

I tried to compile with that option but I failed :cry:

I just cant remember. I usually compile stuff in dpup my self but with mhwaveedit I dont have clear memory. I have compiled mhwaveedit though, but this present version is in cloud.
Sorry. I havent created compile notes either. With difficult stuff I do create them, but for majority I dont. Sorry again.

Playdaz (or somebody who worked on Lucid Puppy)
also had a version of mhwaveedit that supported plugins.

I suspect that it was compiled in Ubuntu or some other
distribution.

intel_drv.so version vs 'X black screen'

#72 Post by charlie6 »

Hi Pemasu,
here on PC+intel 82845G Brookdale video chip:
I went to get a try on other Puppy derivatives which comes with version 2.17.0 intel_drv.so driver on Xorg1.11.
Even after several X restart, no 'X black screen' problem.

Exprimo comes with version 2.13.0;
Here running a PC with [*@¿øo-×=censured]'s intel 82845G Brookdale video chip ; to avoid 'X black screen' upon X restart, a work-around is roll-backing to version 2.11.0.
/var/log/Xorg.0.log here on Exprimo3.6.2.1 wrote:(II) LoadModule: "intel"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so
(II) Module intel: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.7.7, module version = 2.11.0
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 6.0
questions:
- do latest intel_drv.so versions fix the 'X black screen'?
- if yes, what about updating it for dpup-Exprimo?
(i got a try compiling it whitout success...:-( )
Thanks for any answer
Charlie

Charlie6. Debian does not have many choices.
The newer one is for wheezy/sid.
Of course you can try the driver. Possibility exists that it brakes your X.

https://launchpad.net/debian/+source/xs ... ideo-intel

Next option would be to compile it in squeeze. There is patching info in diff file. It might be possible to compile it using that info, with or without patching. There is dependencies info also in that diff file for compiling.

Third possibility is to swap that driver with some other version from other distro, which I am reluctant.

Fourth possibility is that user swaps it.

Fifth possibility

I compiled mhwaveedit with the ladspa.h header file present.

I've included the header file just in case you ever need it for
compiling.

The file fools the compiler. :lol:

Now my version will recognize LADSPA plugins

This version was compiled in exprimo

Code: Select all

./configure --with-default-mixerapp=retrovol --with-default-ladspa-path=/usr/lib/ladspa --prefix=/usr
make
make install DESTDIR=/root/mhwaveedit-exprimo-1.4.21

imagination 3.0

#77 Post by don570 »

I wasn't able to get Imagination 3.0 to work in Exprimo.
I was successful in Precise.

Maybe if it was carefully compiled with the right dependencies
it could work. It needs sox and ffmpeg.

gqview-2.04 for gtk+2.20 compiled in Exprimo

#78 Post by charlie6 »

Here it is ...
as the pet i got (i.e. gqview-2.04 from Dejan's dpup45 repo - compiled with gtk+2.24) reported to be compiled with gtk+2.24, and that running on gtk+2.20 could bring risk of fault, i compiled it inside exprimo.
Have fun

Note to Pemasu : What do you think of this right click option?

A very simple script that just uses rpm2cpio which
is in all puppies.
