Side note: Its always fun to see someone who you've only dealt with online. Or in this case, heard someones voice you only imagined. lol
You've got a decent voice (you work in radio? haha). Maybe you should make all of our Video tutorials.
Funny I've heard this before. Puppyt also said that after I did some videos for him.

I read an article on digg awhile back about dialects and ASE (American Standard English)
Turns out most people have to work to talk like that I was raised in Portland OR and we all talk like this. Portland, Seattle, most of California and parts of the NW / MidWest united states have this ASE dialects if in a big city.

Ive been working on doing a GTKdialog class. I have 3 7to10 min beginner videos done. Doing one a week. So in about 7 more weeks Ill have the beginner series done. Hope to get puppy users motivated to make some GUI stuff.

Intermediate stuff I have figured out. Now. The advanced stuff I'm still learning. Most of my LHPUP Record is done in mid-grade knowledge. I need to learn some more though about bash. That's the only thing holding me back ATM.

What would be nice if you made a quick video of

>>> How to copy Windows files...

as in data recovery in a XP...Vista...Win7 crashed machine.

For newbies in trouble that would be great.

I would do it myself if you enjoy hearing a buzz saw in the background,
and have you seen my pic....scary.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla

""

This is a good guide.

Recover files from Windows hard disk using Puppy Linux

http://help.artaro.eu/index.php/data-re ... KbTt4GrmuI

""""

My old XP >> Clean Windows.

On the desktop...mount the hard drives.....

Just enlarge/stretch the file managers window....

Select the files you wish to delete.

Hit the Control Key and click on the mouse
to highlight them.

Right click the mouse to delete.
Then delete said files as necessary.

Do a little test first with an unimportant file..

////////////////////////

Unmount any drives before shutting Puppy down.

::::::::::::::

How to use Puppy Linux to clean XP

Go to :

Recycler: and delete the files in there.

System Volume Information: and delete the lot.

Next click on:

Documents and Settings

It drops down and shows you
Owners Name...whatever you called yourself...
there might be extras if family members logon.

Mine shows:

Administrator
All Users
Default Service
Local Service
Network Service
One

Others may have additional names.

Clean each user the same way.
Open all the Cookies folder of each of the above and remove index data file and any other cookies.

Open the Recent folder and delete the contents.

Open Local settings of all of them as well.

Open Temporary files and then Content IE5 and delete the index.dat and everything else.
Open the Temp file and delete everything.
Open the History folder and proceed to the History.IE5 folder and delete everything.

Next select the Windows folder:

Drop down to system32.
Open that up and drop to config...open that up,
drop to systemprofile and open that..

Sometimes Puppy loses the plot here and exits out.
That is why it pays to DEFRAG Windows first,
even for 5 minutes if your hard drive is OK!,
Although if the drive is dodgy this is not a good idea.

Open MUT? again ...if this happens.
and open systemprofile and then config.
Delete anything in the Recent folder,
go to the Local Settings here
and delete files as explained above in the Temp, History and
Temporary Internet Files of Documents and Settings.

Fnally delete
Pagefile.sys and hyberfil.sys. in the root of C:\ drive installation.

DO NOT TOUCH PROGRAM FILES

Also check the other drives.
Care needed here because Puppy sees your
hidden partitions...say for Acer..HP etc.

////////////////////

Scan your rescued computer files in another clean Windows PC.

""""""

Regards....Chris.

Hi all,
Just wanted to check in and say hello. Very nice to see the new games and apps being made available and the insightful discussion of Pet vs. SFS.

Like Q5sys I installed Slackware64 14.0 on another Linux partition today. I'm experimenting with a newer kernel, glibc 2.15, udev-182 and some core components from Slack 14.0, hopefully to become LH64 600 Alpha. I haven't decided yet which kernel or Xorg version to use. Taking a cue from Fatdog64 601, I've moved the kernel modules and firmware from the main file to a dedicated .sfs inside the initrd. So the main file is about 25M smaller and all of the kernel modules are available throughout the boot sequence.

Thanks to the new glibc and recent efforts by Q5sys, Xfce-4.10 now mostly works. I say mostly because the desktop icons wouldn't activate until I rolled Thunar back to version 1.3. But now you can choose to launch the Xfce desk icons with either a single-click, or double-click. 8)

Thank you all for keeping things rolling along here on the forum, and for setting up the tracker and seeding the torrents.

Have a great weekend,
TaZoC

If someone would send me a windows XP, Vista , 2007 disk with keys I could do It :)

I gave my windwosXP disk with key away in 2007. I formatted my last windows hard-drive install i had laying around 9 months ago.

Sorry I'm a total Linux convert now. No temptation of windows in my house :P

9 months ago my wife asked me to help her with her windows laptop. I opened the phone book and circled the geeksquad and said "these people deal in windows"

She was PISSED !!! she loves linux mint now though..... and all is well again.

meeki wrote:Nvidia Drivers!!!

our last driver release was Wed Jul 27. 2011 Surprising but only one main new card GPU type(s) was not supported.

Yep the R310 drivers that were in beta are now out.

This is a beta pet! It now works on my system after 5 failed attempts and having to reset my Xorg to vesa many times. So install this with a grain of salt until we start getting reports that it works on other systems.

Built/installed on:
Chip: Intel(R) Core 2 Duo 6600 2.40GHz, L2 Cache 4 MB, FSB Speed 1066 MHz
Ram: 8GB DD2 667
Video Card: 2X GeForce 7900 GS PCI Ecpress. (not in sli) 256Mb card(s)

So its working on my old stuff. I wonder how it will work on newer gear?

Known issues:

* Make dang sure you uninstall your old Nvidia Drivers!!!!!!!!
* Slight screen flicker at start for 1 second.
* Verry first start dont go clicking things until the CPU graph settles down to normal. can lock ya up.
* Some old 3D games have issue with libopenal.so.1 with the new drivers most new packages have fixed this

-= Driver =-
Version: 304.64
Release Date: 2012.11.06
Operating System: Linux 64-bit
Language: English (U.S.)
File Size: 29 MB

PET http://lhpuppetsfs.puppytune.org/beta/p ... .3-L64.pet
MD5 http://lhpuppetsfs.puppytune.org/beta/p ... 64.pet.md5
For some reason the PET didnt install for me. However I broke it open and just manually copied the files and it worked perfectly fine.
Seems to be working properly, Havent had any major issues of yet. lol

qbittorrent

Transmission which is bundled with LHP is nice but its a bit bland for my tastes. qbittorrent is a much more feature rich program. It's 2mb larger than transmission, but for me at least its worth the extra weight.

This is actually what I use to share the LHP64 torrent on http://linuxtracker.org.

If you have any issues let me know.

Xonotic

#134 Post by Q5sys »

Xonotic is an open-source first-person shooter video game. It was developed as a fork of Nexuiz, following controversy surrounding the game's development. The game runs on a heavily modified version of the Quake engine known as "DarkPlaces".

Official Site = http://www.xonotic.org
SFS Package = http://puppy-linux.org/q5sys/Xonotic-0. ... 4-Beta.sfs

Warning SFS package is 934MB!
so I'm calling this a Beta Package because Ive only been able to run it on two of my three puppy systems. I havent had the time to figure out why it wont run on my Intel GFX system yet.

hey Q5 Xonotic sfs is broken ... for me anyway. I downloaded it off their website myself and installed it and it runs fine.

I've noticed that my SFS Ive made over 700MB don't play nice. Also pets have an upper limit too. Could be my machine. Don't know.

Not sure where exactly the issue lies... but there is a conflict somewhere between LHP515, the Flash Pet, Meeki's Nvidia script and Opera 12.01 or Firefox 16.0.2, Arora 0.11.0

I'll work at narrowing down the problem. But Flash videos in the listed are all off hue. This isnt a problem with Chrome.

This was not an issue with LHP 514, the same flash pet, and with these same broswers.
The only difference is the LHP version and Nvidia driver version.

Meeki... as you are using LHP and Nvidia... can you confirm or deny this?

Confirmed Nvidia 7900 GS's

However I do not have a flash prob. I made my own flash pet a while back.
Try mine.
Flash 11.2.202.243
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12968946/lighth ... x86_64.pet

I made this flash for the old nvidia drivers. And it works fine with the new ones too.... well for me anywhoo.
