Audacity 2.02 issues on 64-bit computer [Solved]

#1 Post by nubc »

Audacity 2.0.2 installer for Windows
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows

I was wondering if anyone here has encountered a problem with the latest Audacity 2.0.2 when running 32-bit Windows XP on a 64-bit dual core Dell Precision 390. The installation of Audacity goes well until it is started for the first time, when it gives an error

Code: Select all

Create Process failed; code 14001
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.
Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.
Reinstalling the application doesn't fix the problem. The usual solution is to install "Microsoft C++ 2010, Redistributable Package," of which there are two versions, "x86" and "x64". I installed the x86 version of the Redistributable, but the error condition did not clear, even with a new install of Audacity 2.0.2. Has anyone else had this problem when installing Audacity 2.x on a 64-bit computer running 32-bit WinXP ? Should I install the x64 version of the Redistributable too?

Microsoft C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64) wouldn't install, wrong platform. After uninstalling Microsoft C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86), I downloaded and installed an earlier version, Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86), and thereafter Audacity opened without error.
