Thanks Barry.

I made a torrent. I'm seeding and I'll leave it all day.

EDIT: changed to zip compression for easier distribution among other* OS.

EDIT: added retroprecise-5.4 "UNOFFICIAL" (as stated by Barry on his blog)

Code: Select all

transmission-create retroprecise-5.4.iso -t udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce -t udp://tracker.istole.it:80/announce -t http://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969/announce -t http://tracker.torrentbay.to:6969/announce -t http://puto.me:6969/announce -c "Puppy Linux based on Precise with NO PAE" -o retroprecise-5.4.iso.torrent

I tried the tor with Transmission on a Mac, it said it was NOT a valid tor.

Like I said, never made one before, however it worked fine over my LAN with transmission/puppy on the client. Does Mac have gzip to unzip it?

Later.... working in utorrent too in Windows 7.

precise torrent

#10 Post by cowboy »

Evening all, and cheers to BK. I have the 01micko torrent open in Lucid 5.2.8 (running transmission 2.31 I believe). Currently show connection to one peer, and will leave it open all night, to see if it might help someone else. Good way to get the load off the servers. Hasta.

Distrowatch Confusion?

#14 Post by sszindian »

Distrowatch Confusion?

When you click on the 'puppy-graphic (puppy head) for the Precise listing at Distrowatch... it takes you to specifications for 'SLACKO'!

This can be very confusing for 'users' trying to get info on Precise and download Precise if they happen to go this route (as I always do at Distrowatch)?

Precise-Puppy should have its own listing... Slacko-Puppy should have its own listing. (Probably Wary should also have its own).

EDIT: Thinking it over... maybe just have ONE Puppy listing and 'Multi Puppy Spec Sheets in ONE site for EVERY Puppy when someone clicks, that way people would be able to see all the Puppy developments and maybe download several versions!

Mick,
I too have trouble with your torrent.
Is it announced on a public tracker?
It's a pity because I do have some spare upload bandwidth at the moment.

Precise Puppy 5.4

#17 Post by drblock2 »

Installed Precise Puppy 5.4 on my Athlon 2GHz, 2 MB RAM machine with nvidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card using my old save file from RC2. Updated perfectly (although I had to change the wallpaper manually).

glxgears with nvidia 172.14.35 driver ca. 3150 fps
sound works
automatic network connection works
Opera 12.02 stand alone and Seamonkey flashplayer work
VirtualBox 4.1.18 works
PPM works

Booted without save file adding nouveau.modeset=0 to kernel line. Loads with vesa driver, desktop fine, but very slow - glxgears 37 fps.

Looking good!

Updated 01micko's torrent to include many more trackers, which should help a few people get it going - and remember, seed seed seed

Edit: Also added retroprecise non PAE torrent

Now it works fine.
You may want to get/merge p310don's torrent or just add it to your post.
Torrent clients will just pickup the extra announcers

Changed to zip compression and reuploaded to second post (I'm kinda new at this .. as if it doesn't show :P )

Main reason is the wiki link (ty Lobster) points to my post and it's getting heavily downloaded.. BTW I'm still seeding :) .
