It should work in Puppy 5 and later, and its derivatives. I don't know about Puppy 4.

It isn't necessary, all that has been added is the PDF field, there's no new text to translate. Thank you for this :D

Defaults Chooser 0.8.8

#51 Post by shinobar »

On the Precise Puppy and on some recent puppies, the default* apps are list up in the defaulet chooser option.
If they are chosen, say 'defaultwordprocesser' for the defaultwordprocesser for example, it makes an eternal loop and freezes.

Fixed:
# v0.8.8 04Nov2013 shinobar: avoid the default is set to itself, auto layout

Note: /usr/local/bin/defaultpdf is not contained in this pet. It should be made by the user as his choice or by the contributer.

shinobar,
Thanks, have got your latest defaults-chooser PET for inclusion in the next build of Quirky (which will be Quirky Tahr 6.0.3).

I made one change in the script though, as Quirky is using /usr/local/bin/defaultpdfviewer, not defaultpdf.

Hello shinobar,
I think defaultpdfviewer is a good solution, it is more specific than defaultpdf and this leaves the possibility to use defaultpdfcreator.

Hello shinobar,

Some ideas for next release of defaults-chooser:
- Replace defaultpdf by defaultpdfviewer.
- Add defaultpdfcreator.
- Add /usr/bin/surfer (if present) for Browser and Html viewver.

Depending on your free time.
- Add defaultscreenshot
- Add defaultcalculator
- Add defaultftpclient
- Add defaulttorrent
- Add defaultaudioeditor
- Add defaultfilemanager
- Add defaultarchiver

Of course, these are only suggestions.

In the same time, I'm ok to create a GUI to launch all default applications referenced by defaults-chooser.

Woof-built puppies have, for quite a long time, supported 'defaultdvdplayer' -- see /usr/local/bin/drive-all

I introduced this back when I built some pups with a separate DVD player ...what was that called now? Wary and Racy have it.

I think it was oggle -
- but cannot find anything on the archived blog and blog2
and also not at packages.debian.org ( searching for oggle )

Wary-5.5 has this

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
exec ogleshell
in defaultdvdplayer and ogleshell
calls /usr/bin/ogle
which is a wrapper script similar to mozilla-run.sh or run-mozilla.sh

that calls DVDP_ROOT=${exec_prefix}/lib/ogle

some ogle_* bins therein .
