Sayonara player

#3543 Post by LucioCarreras »

Hi! There's a new version 0.3 of Sayonara player if you are still interested in it. A lot of happened since version 0.1. I would be very happy if it will stay in your repositories.

Atm Sayonara 0.3 is still beta stadium but the final version will be released very soon. I would be very happy, if I could find some testers. :-)

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Lucio

I've compiled Sayonara 0.3, download HERE this will download qt which is a dependency, It appears to run fine, with everything working as it should.

Test please. if there is no feedback I'll assume it's ok and add it to the PPM.

Sayonara

This is actually a nice player. Unfortunately it doesn't offer any of the video formats that I use, so I could only check out the audio. Still checking it out, but so far no problems. It does have some nice features.

Will wait for the next release, I won't add Sayonara 0.3 to the repo.

Yeah I know, but it does list video files as one's it can open? but of course they don't work.

I couldn't justify installing it unless I already had Qt installed, otherwise you would be looking at 50meg for Qt installed plus Sayonara.

I will remove it for final version as well as some other little bugs. Thank you very much for testing :)

If Qt is too big, I totally understand it. But I saw Sayonara 0.1 in the repos which had a few more dependencies. Final version will be available at the end of the week. Then you can decide :)

Yeah, my bad, I saw 'avi, mpg, mpeg' and I assumed it played video, too. Still, not a bad little audio player..

Einar,

No news of Jemimah yet, I just hope she's ok and is still following this thread.

I'm guessing there would be a number of people hanging out for the Saluki official release,
but that is starting to look like a non event.

Elroy and I have been left with the responsibility of maintaining the repo and moderating saluki-linux.com,
I have no idea what has become of the admin and the other moderators,
it's beginning to to look like they thought it was a good idea, then vanished also.

Seeing that we have a wonderful repo, Elroy and I have been working on a fork of saluki for a number of weeks now,
it's getting to the stage where we will release it as a beta, this will be a larger ISO at around 200meg.

We have decided on the name, Carolina linux, this is a rebanded Saluki with updates and a change in some of the default apps,
as well as bug fixes, though there are still a small number of issues to overcome,
doing the build at lest gives us the opportunity to continue development and with the possible return of Jemimah could be added to Saluki.

Elroy will post the finer details as he is still in the process of finalizing the build and will release it soon, possibly by weeks end.

Cheers,

Geoffrey

LucioCarreras,

I checked the version that's in the repo, it has the same file types listed also,

This will be a nice addiction to Saluki, look forward to the next release with bug fixes. :D

Official release

#3556 Post by Volhout »

einar,

Jemimah has bad fortune on her last projects. She is brilliant in what she is doing, but for her last 2 projects (Puppeee 4.3 and Saluki) she was unable to finish them. I am glad you are picking up things where she left them, and bring Saluki (under whatever name) to an official release. She deserves it.

some observations

#3557 Post by emil »

I am testing Saluki and will file notes on some issues:

At first startup there is a hint on additional langpacks (de in my case), however the autodownload from the smokey01 repo is not working.

I found a langpack on
http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/pet_pa ... 120718.pet

smokey01 works, but the lang pack is missing.

I do have a german language pack for saluki
with menu and control panel translated.

But no web space for download

@emil
Please send me a pm if you want to try my pet
