This pup is called 529 because that is where we are in the development of macpup. We just did mp528 and now it's time for 529. mp529 doesn't localize very well ,most likely a problem with this builds version of ecore. Things are changing very quickly with e17 development. It's pointless to do a new build of e until they finish.

For now stick with mp528v2 until we update if you have localization issues.

For Lupu-529 look here :

luci-001.002 - current Three-Headed Dog Version 3 JAN 10 2012
(Instant_Update 002.1 for 3HD - will update either Version 1 or Version 2 to Version 3 specs)

IMHO people should use either the current luci-001.002.iso Version 3 or use the IU 002.1 to update either V1 or V2. to V3 specs. These are both in the first section of the first message of this thread.

So, now I will shutdown :
sh-3.00# uptime
02:24:50 up 3 days, 14:58, load average: 1.12, 0.98, 0.97

Gave Python a shot which compiled but saying two audio modules were missing headers/libs to finish .
Gobject, gmodule, pycairo .. .. .. and i don't exactly remember which at least failed to compile . Will give pidgin on Foxy3 and Opera2 a shot since i have the sources .

Xchat needs a dependency as Pidgin and refused to configure .

Yup pidgin compiled on my Foxy3 full installation . 2.4.2 not because some sa_len is missing in the /include/headers.h but 2.5.8 did but is missing the activate menu . Here snap pidgin-2.6.6 - which is missing a room search function :

Code: Select all

./configure --disable-gtkspell --disable-meanwhile --disable-avahi --disable-nm --disable-tcl --disable-vv --disable-idn
But this configure-line is something I guess pidgin is not famous for . I prefer ChatZilla . Firefox -> Tools -> Add-ons and in the search box [ chatzilla ] installed it for me .

nilsonmorales at the irc.freenode.net#puppylinux chat pointed me to http://puppylinux.org/wikka/pidgin

which refers to Pidgin 2.10.0 and 2.10.5 for lupu and 4.3.1 .

These pidgin are also configured with --disable-much --disable-more .

What do you mean with no localisation ? Missing Fonts ?

The man binary set for busybox less -M -~ for example could show
mplayer ist ein Movie

Have you tried the Advanced Part of Keyboard Wizard in the "Anwendungen > Setup > Setup Wizards " ?

If you have a laptop then probably something like

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -rules xorg -model pc102 -layout us,de -variant "" -option grp:lwin_toggle,lv3:ralt_switch
in ~/.xinitrc could provide you with a simple toggle switch using the left win key between "Strg" and "Alt" .

The e17 keyboard module did not work for me either .

Where/what do I need to do?

Not really an issue for me, because I prefer jwm, but would be nice to know.

Also several themes have larger fonts in the menus. Some are the Smoke theme , MP-Smoke-1.pet in the macpup 525 folder on my page. In the macpup 528 folder try the MP-23oz-1.pet , MP-blingblack-1.pet , or the MP-Imago-Macpup-2.pet .

Prit & I have reorganized my macpup so now all the themes and .pet for the older versions with the old edje format are in their own folder, "OLD". And everything else is in the folder for the version it was built in. I have a single thread for all of our customized themes and backgrounds.

Hi runtt21 !

Installed mac 529 to usb stick
using a Toshiba-Satellite 3000 ...works fine so far .
The problem with frequence scaling utility , which did not work for me , i solved
by using the one from Slacko . (I saw it somewhere in the threads ..Cannot exactly remember ) .
But one point there is .....using Jwm desktop i can set my keybord to german everything works fine . But switching to E 17 this settings are not working (only in JWM ) . Z=y and so on .. I like that E17 and like to use it dont want to complain just want to give you feedback .

I think there are problems with Cups . Tried adding a new printer but firefox does not go to Cups .

Nevertheless... this is a fine distro and i want thank you for all your time and work you are investing in this project ...
keep on rocking !!
.

Hi runtt21 !!
Regarding the problem with Cups ....i found your advice on the Macpup Forum under "how to : setting up cups "
installing MP529-sys-update-01.pet .

It's in the macpup 529 folder on the macpup page. http://macpup.org/runtt21/ .
O.K:

For those that don't understand rude French posters, the previous post roughly translates to:
On top of that macpup, it is always the same thing, you saw one from it, hushed up saw them all. Precise 5.2.60 is very well, they even did not know how to copy it.
It ignore the French speakers, and definitely I give my opinion in French. Macpup, it is finished. I do not want it any more!
