Doing Sterling work there Papaschtroumpf,
Big thumbsup !
new FTP Server: BetaFTPD
you can also use the built-in httpd web server to transfer files (or use Monkey) ... to transfer files from a Windows machine to Puppy (over lan or internet), you can run a web sever program on the windows machine ... i usually use HFS, but there are others that are good: http://www.rejetto.com/sw/
Monkey can serve symlinked files, but you need to enable symlinking in the conf file
anyway, a simple http or ftp server to transfer a few files is a lot easier to set up than setting up network file sharing

Problem with beta-Ftpd
New to puppy, nice so far, running it on Dell 450 PII. small HD. Loaded to HD.
Read through release notes on beta-Ftpd.
Downloaded and installed as outlined.
It is not listed in Netwowking.
Restarted windows manager.
Same results not showing in Networking.
Any ideas?
Regards

did you install it as an alien package using pupget? what windows manager are you using? it should show up above LinPopup
you can try and start it manually, you should be able to run betaftpd-cc from the command line to start the control center.

I did install as documented in the release notes. I used JVM and Fvwm95 managers with the same results.
The ftp server does not show up in the Network portion. But, as you pointed out I can call the server from a terminal and set up and use it.
Nice and simple to use. Nice work.
