I have lots of pictures. Some of them can not be shown with Slacko. Under Puppy520 and other programs there is no problem.
It seems that Slacko does not yet understand ä,ö and ü in the names of the pictures. Even in a german SLACKO.

Obviously a new Version can make backsteps. 30 jears ago I would have changed all ä to ae. Now I hope you will remove this bug.
Is there an update available? Or will I have to wait for puppy 540?

Hmm, you're right...
Now I'm on Slacko and indeed I wasn't able to open a picture that contains diacritics in its name.
...but I've changed encoding to UTF-8 (Menu -> Desktop -> Countrywizard...) and now it's ok.
You could try that.

HTH
Greetings!

UTF-8 is default in Slacko for all non-english locales. This was a bugfix from Zigbert awhile ago. He reported that exact issue and it was because there is a conflict with Norwegian (Bokmal?). The bug existed in 530, possibly 531 but not 533. If you disable UTF-8 then you should understand that these things will happen.

No, i refuse to upgrade .. lol .. but thanks for reminding about it (again) .

But coreutils(cp/mv) and util-linux(mount-FULL) and ntfs* are compiled with the slackware configuration options i guess. ROX-Filer uses the 'mount' command as it shows off with the drive icons. Would need to create a /bin/cp wrapper to check if Rox uses the binaries or internal C commands.

Cool
