Configure Firewall to Allow Printing to Network Printer??

#1 Post by gerry »

How do I configure the firewall to allow cups to print to a printer connected to a windows machine? NOTE: it's only the firewall that is a problem, all is ok if I turn it off.

Needless to say, the "custom" option is a load of gibberish to me.

EDIT: it's Slacko 5.3.3.

I have done this successfully before, so I had a quick look again.

1. Run the firewall wizard and select Custom. You may have to scroll down a bit to see it.
2. Choose OK until you get to Internet Connection Sharing.
3. Choose No.
4. When you get to Trusted Networks, enter the IP address of the Windows machine. Note that this will only work if it has a static IP address. Otherwise, specify your entire subnet, like 192.168.2.0/24.
5.Start the firewall.
