GTKAM software problem with SDCanon Digital Elph camera

I have pictures and movies on SD750 Canon Digital Elph 7.1 mp camera.
I tried to use GTKam sottware to load images from camera but it said it could not initialize the camera. I have a 4GB SD card.

Also, trying to use Picasa 3 it would not load and collapses to the dock without loading all the way. I need to get those images out of the camera. Any suggestions?

is it connect via usb? once turned on some cameras show as a USB stick.

try lsusb command and report result here
