Subject description: Hardinfo in Racy shows RAM over 4GB

My laptop has 8GB RAM and Hardinfo in Racy 5.3 displays all of this. Does this mean Racy can use all 8GB as I always thought that a 32 bit OS could only handle a maximum of 4GB? Certainly every other version of Puppy I have tried on this computer (apart from Fatdog64 of course) only shows 4GB in Hardinfo.

If Racy or any other Puppy version, has PAE feature implemented, it will see and use memory higher than 4GB. To a limit of 64GB.
I assume by what you state Racy 5.3 does.
Explained here:

Slacko 5.3.3 0ffers a PAE version along with the regular version. Both are 32 bit systems.

Thanks Bigpup. I had forgotten all about PAE, I did read about it some time ago. A bit of research on Barry's blog shows that Racy was indeed developed with the PAE kernel, hence the access to all 8GB RAM. Looks like Racy is going to become my OS of choice as no matter how hard I try, this newbie has been unable to compile usb modeswitch for Fatdog64 and I rely heavily on USB modems for internet access. All other Puppy versions don't quite play nicely with my laptop for one reason or another.
