devx and kernel sources needed

#22 Post by Dromeno »

Like Tman I am also looking for the devx and kernel sources. They are needed to get VirtualBox to run (to build the vboxdrv kernel modules).

I tried http://182.164.210.61/puppy/opt/virtualbox-4.1.18.sfs

..or does anyone have a Virtualbox sfs / pet which works with this particular brand of pup (especially its audio)? Wine works but that is not always good enough. And a couple of musicians I know have a lot of their music made with Windows progs, so Studio Puppy would be more compatibe with a functioning virtualbox inside.

@Tman
@Dromeno

devx:
look for "lupu_devx_520.sfs"

kernel source (Puppy Studio 3.3 RT-kernel):
look for "linux-2.6.33.5-rt-l0wt3ch.tar.gz"

There's a chance running a vbox inside puppy will
use enough resources, to negate any advantage compared
to just using wine. You still have to burn cpu cycles and ram on the windows
OS and apps, regardless of where they are. Then have its audio
output recognized and synced, and available to some Puppy app/s

Cheers
