Can I just copy and paste 'applications' between Puppies?

#1 Post by atv »

Saintless - or anyone else who might know. I am obviously a newbie, I do research about these things in the web, but don't necessarily understand what some posts really mean. I am reasonably familiar with puppies but a little out of my depth in the cat world. :)
my question is: In other puppies, if you open (by clicking on an .2sf) you can see the contents and is it like install if I just copy the folders I need to my system?

regards, Andres

yes, you can copy into your active puppy from the inactive one but the question is if it is usefull...

the most puppy's have about the same average content at the first start, so there as only rare reason to do that what you propose!

but, and that is very important, all puppy's don't have the same software level (kernel, main libraries) and it is possible that you produce a magistral crash doing that

next difficulty is to enter the user parameter into /etc and /root (hidden files in /root)

for this reasons it is probably more effective to use pet-packages as usual...
