Hi Lobster,
I can't seem to get the bootmanager to recognise the devx.

Please read the instructions:

Sorry Embarassed

Well, the BootManager was giving wrong information in that situation. I have now fixed BootManager:

Okay, I've got my devx sorted.
I think I'll have a go at inkscapelite.

Edit
First attempt to compile Inkscapelite failed. Will try again later.

I compiled Inkscapelite in sap6 on RP. Here it is (539KB):

Would this be a good stand-in for the Pi?

it depends what u want to do with them:

- if u want to play with hardware add-ons (programm them, etc. ) and have maybe not quick desktop (but i hope when we will have drivers for GPU it will give more power for X) u will choose Pi
- if u want a tiny player with Android or quicker desktop (after u install 'normal' Linux) u will choose this mini player

i myself have tv that play most of the mini video formats so i choose Pi

OK finally.
Screenshot enclosed.
Using Chromium browser (not the latest with integrated Flash but it loads in 3 seconds on the 3rd load)

It took me a while to load onto SD
and I think it best to reboot the computer
before using DD
- had problems in the past. Tried twice after restarting xwindows
waited and waited - then did a reboot
Third time it took aprox 5 minutes to DD to SD card.

One very nice feature is having the traditional setup Puppy where it asks for keyboard, do you want firewall, locales etc

Having to use mouse to move about on screen
but this is Puppi SAP alpha1 and it runs on an ARM CPU and is built by Barry. Me like.

Lobster,

Screen casting does work on sap6 using qemu. I'll attach the result, it's a real gz file so you have to gunzip it from the commandline.

Here's a basic recipe for ffmpeg, oh, you need libusb-1.0 from debian PPM too...
Code:
ffmpeg -f x11grab -s vga -r 25 -i :0.0 ~/myvid.avi

I tried ogv but no go. There are options to tune the size, I'll look into that later when I get the real Pi Wink Once I get it sorted I'll consult with shinobar to see what is the best approach for his ffconvert program which now has added screen casting.
myvid.avi.gz
Description  # gunzip myvid.avi.gz
gz

I unzipped it within Xfe, using the GUI, and it worked just fine! Very Happy

And the video played using GNOME MPlayer. Cool

Thanks Mick, will give that a go on rpi hardware. . .

One of the daughter boards the Rpi team are working on is a high resolution webcam (I hope they go with that and not a low res version - or maybe a choice)

It may be a little early to think about Project 'Tint'. This would be an early response to Project Glass (Google) - the developer kits for pre order project glass now are $1500 for next year delivery and first consumer products in 2014.
Men in sheds or the US equivalent, guys in garages . . . they change the world.

What fun

Confirmed working on genuine raspberry hardware (accept no substitutes) Smile
Very Happy
it is the 'user space programming library' that is required from the main Debian library, just as Mick suggested

I have got to say, and of course I am probably biased, but I think that this pup is shaping up as the simplest and most complete out-of-the-box experience for newcomers to the RP.
