Those who do not have Pi but interested to try or help to troubleshoot this, please refer to here http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=79358 for instructions.

gtkdialog bug fix |
|
The line numbers are specific to gtkdialog revision 320 from svn trunk, but if you do a search, you should be able to find the line in other versions too.
File is src/automaton.c, line number 2149
Reverse a and b, from stackelement _sum(stackelement a, stackelement b)
to
stackelement _sum(stackelement b, stackelement a)
gtkdialog will magically display the correct ordering. Do I get a bounty?
Can't help with the keyboard, I don't own a pi.
EDIT: I see from your post that keyboard problem is resolved with a new kernel . So two major problems are resolved then.

The Chromium browser makes a huge difference and the keyboard editing will be great.
We have an email client - it loads, anyone tested?
Inscapelite works - more info:

libusb-1.0 is missing, you can get it from the debian repo.
I tried ffconvert-1.3 (latest, supports screen grab) from shinobar but I got some screen size error when trying to do a screen cast, this is using qemu, it might work on real Pi hardware (needs above mentioned libusb)

I posted this in Psync thread but post here again in case it was overlooked. "ntpdate" binary doesn't seem to be inside the disk image so Psync doesn't work.
@Ziggy: thanks I'm just glad I can help

The binary is in the pet package in the Psync thread. You could extract it from there.

I just took sap6-5.95 out for a test drive and it looks very promising!
I have the R_pi tied in to my home network with wired ethernet, and included on the network is an HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z printer.
I chose the "add new printer" option and CUPS correctly found my network printer and added it. Although the HP driver collection does not include a driver for the "6500" model, I chose the "6100" model hoping that it would enable enough features to make the "6500" usable.
I loaded a test file into Geany, and it printed perfectly on the HP 6500!
Good work!
On my keyboard the arrow keys also do not work. Backspace key does delete backwards. Cannot test the delete key to erase figure under the cursor.
Question: Does this version of Puppy reside in memory, or are things loaded in from the SD card as they are needed?

Great news about Cups.
Puppi SAP print server would be a cheap, cheerful and useful device for a charity office, educational project or other tight budget project.

Puppy runs from memory as does this version.
Also there is presently only one place to save, so first shut down is simple
From Barry's blog:
the SD cards we are booting off now on the ARM boards, are full installations, no layered filesystem, and there is no need for selecting where to save the session at first shutdown.

Hi,
tested sap6 alpha1 a little bit:
wireless keyboard with touchpad works OOTB. OK, a little bit too sensitive, but no problem.
I installed german keyboard layout but this doeesn't have any effect, keyboard still works with us layout.
xsane doesn't work for me, get "no device found". I think it's the general usb detecting problem.
At startup I can read:
usb-hub detected
4 ports detected
usb-hd detected,
but when puppy pops up, I can't see any connected usb device. No usb drive icon, not with Pmount and not with probepart.
Gparted has these missing dependencies:
libgtkmm
libpangomm
libglibmm.
After installing these libs via PPM, Gparted worked and was able to detect usb drives.
Knowing the right name of the drive/partition (here sda3), it was easy for me, to mount it manually.
And now the highlight, after mounting sda3 manually, I connected 2 usb sticks too. I got drive/partition icons for sdb and sdc, and Pmount and probepart were able to detect all drives.
I hope, I can test more during the day,
Rolf
Edit: just tried xsane again (canon Lide30 via usb) but still no luck.

Good stuff from Rolf.
I am about to try a USB hard drive (it has its own power so I an hopeful) on the Rpi.
Transferring files in an out of the Pi has not been easy without USB
and I have been using attachments to emails . . .
There is also Drive (released yesterday) You need Chromium on both machines.
Drag pics or files from Puppy rox into a 'Drive' directory on one machine and it should be available from any browser (Drive will appear on your gmail account)
For some reason (probably mostly impatience and stupidity) I could not get dropbox to work.
Hope that is useful

Ed, Rolf....
Make sure libusb-1.0 is installed (it seems to be missing)... search it in PPM and you'll find it in debian main iirc.

Thanks Mick,
Jamesbond is reminding of his file transfer method (see the Qemu initiative thread) which he wants to know if it works on rpi (real hardware).
It is a little complex but one of the hardware enabled raspberrians might rise to the challenge . . .
I may have to get a new SD card . . .
Gonna try the ffmpg recording feature - that is my priority
Now leaving Intel CPU and transferring to low power raspberry . . .
For the record
We are Puppy. We are ARM'd and very cute.

Yes, this was the first thing I did, but I realized no difference. Then I tried Gparted. I don't know if it's needed or not, but it's good to write that I did it first .
In the meantime after several reboots, usb drive detection (and mounting/unmounting) still works fine. At least with Pmount. Looking back, it looks like an "initial push" was missing. The appearing of drive icons also works fine (the appearing of icons from my hd takes a very looong time) but the disappearing doesn't seem to work right. Not a big problem, Pmount seems to work OK, or you can restart xserver.
