MetroPuppy

#1 Post by kros54 »

Now English language available in the first made Hungarian language MetroPuppy!
Is based on Justin Bieber Linux, Sheepy work. (Family: Lupu-525).
(Forum thread: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=68377
and Rexbang, which made by lithpr.
That the days are also discussed:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 73&t=76628
What are the differences?

First, the look. This Puppy windows8-like. Tiles which is solved in conky.
Many help Bigyula, Apa666 and many others the Hungarian forum members.
Second. I was always annoyed that many programs contain a puplet, but the most commonly used to achieve it was not easy. I thought the wbar and tint2panel suited to the most common applications that can be prosecuted in a single click.
The right mouse button menu I created: Other Applications, a rare and there are also available.
Opera's browser, is knows everything, is small.
Office applications are not included. One of the Hungarian version of SoftMaker Office is putting it. and LibreOffice SFS-package also works well.
Use it!
Note that I do not know English well, this is Google Translate.

Looks very nice - downloading now - will try on the Acer and EeePc.

Sadly - I don't think it has the broadcom wifi drivers for the E732.

Will let you know how it goes in a day or two.

Hi, kros54

Looks good, Have you thought about using PupMenu for the other Apps instead?

People would be able to get to all the apps from there.

Thanks for this MetroPuppy

Oldeyer: Have you thought about using PupMenu for the other Apps instead?

Thanks for the idea.
Look, and we'll see...

My original thought:
wbar - the most common programs, (for example Macpup).
right-click context menu - which is still in use.
other applications - rarely, perhaps never. (by user)
For example: many puplet contains four-five text editor, I think it enough to Geany...

Already available in another version: MetroPuppyEnFF
(En: English, FF: Firefox, in Hungarian is made in two versions.)
Differences:
Opera browser instead: Firefox 11
Firefox browser many plugin, for example:
Low Quality Flash 0.2, gecko media player, Google Translator for Firefox, Flash Player 11.0.1.152, adblock plus ...
Thus, the older, weaker computers can workwith it.

Other Applications instead PupMenu - thanks for the idea, oldyeller, thanks, great!
Download: ftp://puppylinux.hu/puppylinux/ISO/MetroPuppyEnFF.iso

Of course, special thanks to the original creator puplet, Sheepy!

I would like to thank you for this Pup and to say how much I admire your minimalist approach and in particular what you have achieved in Conky.
Radky’s excellent PupControl has long afforded the opportunity to trim down the puppy menus and you seem to be the first to take advantage of this.

I have made one minor change just to the copy of conky.sh held in the startup folder which you may like to consider. This shuts the display down after time to assimilate the information – 35 seconds in my case. A shortcut to the amended script which I have named “Quick Conk

@ETP: Excellent idea, thank you for your solution!

Great!
Very nice, clean the Desktop - transparent, like it.
If I remember correctly, the original solution was prepared 1280x800 pixel resolution. Our uniqueness has been transformed with 1024x768 pixels.
I recommend this to a higher resolution was to check out the original too.

I think it would be even nicer!

Metro Puppy - Free/Open Source Software

#15 Post by darry1966 »

With regards to Metro Puppy it is a very good Pup but the choice of Fox-it reader is not good when we evince etc which are open source software.

All Puppies being Linux should run free/open source programs  :D :D

The Foxit Reader is the experience of others, more useful than the epdfviewer.
It is true, that it is not open source, but this version is free.

Why JUST WHY?

#17 Post by Ted Dog »

Windows 8 looks like the old CGA screens from the 1980's when software just threw-up blocks of colored ANSI text everywhere. If we are going Metro, go Retro Metro bring back ANSI text blocks!

Good work otherwise, will try it out may-be it will grow on me. :?
