Two people have reviewed it on Amazon.com
My Android 4.0 Mini PC did not include a power supply,
but all the appropriate USB and HDMI cables. Easily used an old
smart phone 5V/1A AC adapter for power. This PC has no ON/OFF
switch, so it powers up on plug-in. Heat may be a factor, long term,
since it gets quite hot, but only time will tell if this will affect its service
life. USB mouse operation is seamless, as is wireless network setup
and connection. Video quality and playback were excellent on my 47"
Vizio LED LCD, as was sound, via HDMI input. The Android 4.0 Mini PC
won't set any speed records, but I've yet to see a fast platform on this
OS. Speed approximates what I experience with my ASUS Transformer
101 and lag is acceptable. This is a "fun" platform to use and experiment
with, and the first in what will be a series of mini and micro personal
computers with ever increasing power. Love it.

In use, the only difference to a tablet flavor of Android is the mouse part.
In the main it's no problem, and you soon get used to it, but apps where
touch -- especially of the "multi" variety -- might not translate so well.

All media tasks (HD video, Spotify, YouTube etc,) were handled pretty
well. Sometimes there is a bit of a lag on the UI -- especially with things
like Google Maps, or busy webpages -- but in general it keeps up nicely.

(media playing works a charm, which is makes it a good light solution for
dumb TVs, or those with poor app options)

"They tagged the price 51$ but after i bought it
they emailed me and jacked the price up to 75$ so
icancelled buying."
It looks like the company that made the MK802
originally intended to sell it cheaper.

Puppy Linux on the MK802 future?

#6 Post by rrolsbe »

Recently been running Puppy Alpha3 on the Raspberry Pi and it seems to work fairly well (except for browsing https: web pages, slow)

I have also been trying out Raspbian and it also works quite well, maybe a little faster? I have been a Puppy fanatic for years because I did not need to perform an install (ie.. only use SFS and pupsave files)
.
Since Puppy is a full install on the Raspberry Pi, I will probably boot both Puppy and Raspbian for the near future (they both have their strengths).

If anyone is running Puppy on the 1G version MK802 computer on a stick and also has a Raspberry Pi, please comment on +/- between the two.

Sounds like further Puppy development for the MK802 might be on hold/dead?

The Pi and the MK802 both have GPU's and the Pi has a (somewhat limited) hardware floating point processor that is used by the Raspbian OS.

Anyone know if the MK802 has a hardware floating point processor?

What video codecs can the MK802 hardware accelerate? do any of the OS's running on the MK802 use the GPU to accelerate video?

The Pi is only licensed to currently do mp4 h.264.

Anyway, considering the purchase of an MK802 and I would like to run Puppy LInux on it (assuming the performance is as good or better than on the Rasp Pi and that future development is not dead)

Thanks In Advance for Any Advice
Regards, Ron
