Looking for A4 scanner

#1 Post by oliver69 »

Hi,

looking for a a4-scanner (scanner only - no printer etc.) which works in puppy.
Need to create pdf's from the scan. So which model to choose and what software?

Hi,

Okay, I'll answer the hardware side of the queston-

Puppy uses xsane/peasyscan (built-in on most Puppy versions) to access scanners, these are front-ends for sane.

So if it works for Sane then Puppy should be compatible, here's a compatibility list-

. . . .

Canon makes a line of basic scanner-only units called LiDE. Puppy has a driver for it here. But it has only been confirmed to work with a few models. LiDE units will scan A4.

Regarding A4, the latest version of Peasyscan has support for scanning A4 documents and saving to A4 PDFs.

I know that Lupu 5.28 had no trouble reading my old Epson (I think that in general, Epson products are well supported by Linux and vice-versa).

I'll have to try Peasyscan on it. I've only scanned to JPG so far.
