:( I have puppy on a CD ive used F12 to open boot screen which lists:

1 Removable Devices
2Hard Drive
3CD-ROM Drive
4IBA GE SLOT 0208 v1217

Enter Setup

Four times ive entered CD rom and Puppy loaded.

This time i get the win XP load screen????

The exact same thing happens with my Linux OS Asus X101???

EVEN MORE STRANGE

Ive pressed F9 F10 F11 and F12 lifting my finger of F9 when boot option screen is listed and all buttons when it starts beeping

BUT PUPPY LOADS as its now done while typing this post :)

Hi,

Perhaps your CD has fingerprints or is dirty.

Perhaps seek or google advice on how to clean it gently.

My regards

I would always set the cd to boot first in the Bios

as >> the default.

I suspect it is burnt too fast.

Have you another cd that boots.

I always use Imgburn....for ISOs.

No more than 32 speed.

Older comps.....24 etc.

My upload.

Imageburn...no install.. >>>> don't update.

I uploaded it from a Hiren's cd ages ago.
Burn no more than 32 speed.

ImgBurn.exe .... Size: 1.53 MB

Hi splash
Possible thrill seeking dust bunny hitched a ride on your cd drive
carriage and is now surfing or shadow boxing on your cd?
Fix: canned air or other alien blaster!
I’d go with Chris’s advise, check that boot order is set to boot
from the cd-rom first!
Check md5sun?

Good Luck!

Timing and scratched/dirty CD do that.
Also possibly a dirty lens in the drive - but be careful how you clean it.

Also check the cables.

Don't forget that when the BIOS is reading the CD for boot there is no error correction so ANY small defect will cause it to fail.
