I tried both Slacko 5.3.3 and Thin Slacko 5.3.3 on my Toshiba 2405 P4 laptop with 512MB (the max ram) and it just seems to be slow, jerky and freezes. WinXP Pro SP3 seems to run better. Surprising really.

Have you tried Lucid or Wary?
You might have better luck.

I'd recommend Wary 5.3 for a 1.6 P4 with Intel graphics.
i810 driver works best for my 855gm machine; maybe it
would help with your 845 chip.

How much ram do you have?

Edit;
Sorry; 512mb ram.

Last month I burned a CD of Wary 5.1.1 k2.6.30.5 for a WinXP computer.
(Dell Dimension 2400, P4 / 2.2 / 1.5G RAM)

"Copying to ram" takes 2 minutes on that box, when booting from CD to save file.
Booting to pfix=ram from CD takes almost 5 minutes! Mad

This Wary version boots within 1 minute on my Compaq Deskpro (P2 / 350 / 320MB RAM).
You'd think it would be the other way around; the P4 has more power everywhere.

That's why I mentioned Lucid first to jacatone; it might boot faster than Wary.
