Smokey01.com will remain the primary mirror but I think I've figured out how to automatically sync the repo at saluki-linux.com. This should only download the changed packages - not the whole repo every time.
| Code: | | wget -np -mN -nH --cut-dirs=2 http://smokey01.com/saluki/pet_packages-saluki/ |
Smokey01, just in case you ever want to mirror something, here's what I've learned so far.
It is possible to get ssh access at Hostgator, but you may need to open a ticket. Once you can login with ssh it's pretty easy to test commands like the one above. Plus you can do things you can't do with ftp, like create symlinks.
Once the syncing command is perfected, it should be possible to schedule it to run periodically with cron.

I have added these to the repo.

Hi Jemimah - JFYI
am running luki-022 on my old Acer 243LC and it really is running well.
So far, all seems very good. Will try on the Asus 701SD tomorrow.
The Saluki website looks very nice too.
Many thanks for all that you do - very best regards - Ray

pulseaudio |

Saluki runs very well. any way of getting pulseaudio working on it? pulseaudio doesn't appear to be of high importance in puppy world.
is there a better or equal way of using a bluetooth stereo headset on linux...without all the commandline song and dance?

Mutter - just lost all my desktop icons / drives.
Pmount still works. Maybe do a restart-X.
However - apart from above - amazed at how well 022 runs on a 10yr old laptop. Very smooth, quiet and lower temp than many alternative's.
Regards - Ray

adobe air |
|
Hi Jemimah,
Adobe AIR for Linux is here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/archived-air-sdk-version.html
unfortunately for linux there is no later version than 2.6 and it is meant for Gnome or KDE so I do not know it it can be made to install. But it would be great if you could get it to work...

A couple more for the wanted list |
|
About picasa... it would be great if one of the alternative gnome photo organizers (shotwell or f-spot) were available for puppy / saluki
And, am I mistaken or is not every old puppeee app yet tailored to saluki? I miss gLabels, gPodder and ghemical...
plus... Scribus does not install properly in Saluki 22 (missing libs)

Last time I tried, bluetooth audio was possible, but still quite a hassle. When I get back to my desk on Thursday, I'll get out my bluetooth speaker and see if I can get it to work and write a tutorial.

Edit: Updated, added mm.cfg to AdobeAIR-2.6-SDK.pet

I've packaged AdobeAir 2.6 SDK this appears to work ok, not all apps are Linux friendly, I have packaged a Picasa Image Browse this works.
The info came from here how to package the .air files http://puppylinux.org/wikka/AdobeAir, Softpedia have links to Air apps http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Adobe-AIR-Apps
Get the AdobeAIR-2.6-SDK.pet 38.0 MB (37,969,765 Bytes) 65.3 MB installed
PicasaBrowser-1.0.pet 781.5 kB (781,450 Bytes)

hi geoffrey
a lot of the errors are output from the adobe air sdk debugger. and don't affect the working of the app.
you can turn this off by creating a 'new blank file' in /root/ called ...... open the file, paste this in and save | Code: | | SuppressDebuggerExceptionDialogs=1 |
this turns off the debugger
Note: if an app fails, it's worth trying it with a different version of adobe air sdk.... some prefer the newest and some the older sdks

I setup a 2nd panel in saluki at the top with my shortcuts and stuff i like.
what i would like to find is the config file for the setup so i can copy it and have it easily restored if i need to create a new save file etc.
this would be most helpful. |
The config files are in /root/.config/xfce4. .config is a hidden directory so set Thunar to show hidden directories in order to be able to see it. |
All i see in /root/>config/xfce4/panel are config for panel applets. i dont see one for each panel unless i am missing something.
