Suggested codelines

#1 Post by zigbert »

It can be many reason for Mick, Barry or any other maintainer/developer to not include your improved Puppy code.

Even if your thoughtful codelines doesn't make into the official Puppy, it may be useful somewhere in space. Too many of our suggested codelines is not anymore traceable in this forum wilderness.

I will collect my suggestions here.
Please share.

Pmount 1.Aug. 2013
This is a rather major update of Pmount, but the detection/mounting engine is NOT touched.

Based on Pmount (woof 13.Feb 2013), Partview (Wary 5.2.91), Pdrive and the idea of Startmount.

- Partview embedded into gui
- Partition labels
- Set mount at boot
- CD-audio detection
- Swap management
- Scalable gui
- (Un)mount without rerender gui
- Remember window geometry

Or keep it more conservative. Color-scheme is set in $HOME/pmountrc

Hello zigbert.

Thank you very much for your contributions.

You write:
> This is a rather major update of Pmount (...)

Does this Pmount have a version number? (So as not to confuse it with other versions we may have archived.)

Be aware that the new Pmount-gui requires gtkdialog-0.8.

This Pmount is not a pet-package as we are now in the 'Cutting edge' section - not 'Additional software'.

I put a 'diskprobe' button in my latest quick_launch application.
I find it interesting to see the manufacturer's names listed.

Any chance for a diff? I'd like to add this to my already heavily patched pmount.

Because of restructuring the code to functions, the diff would be horrible. Much code is moved around, but blocks of the original code is equal. My thought is; if this pmount is not adopted, I will diff the latest Pmount with the one I have used (Wary-5.2.91), and update corresponding lines.

In the hope that Barry wants this code, I will not make any changes to the 'engine'.

updated 23. Jun 2013

Here is gtkdialog-splash (from Slacko 533) with geometry fixes and extended attributes.
  • -bg_gradient
  • -align
  • -icon_width
  • -font
  • -border
  • -margin
Image

The new look is turned ON by default but the old is still available by turning OFF -border and -bg_gradient. Like this:

Code: Select all

gtkdialog-splash -bg orange -text "Please wait, bringing down wlan0..." -border false -bg_gradient false
There is an issue with -margin, since it require -border to work. I really couldn't understand why.

Hey zigbert.

I like your refreshed and classy pmount & gtkdialog-splash.

Minor issue with gtkdialog-splash:
I don't know if it's only me (Lupuplus-528.005), but -fg parameter doesn't work.
Anyway, the addition of color='"'${fg}'"' makes it running fine.
Line 336:

Code: Select all

          <label>"<b><span color='"'${fg}'"' size='"'${fontsize}'"'>'${text}'</span></b>"</label>
Keep it up, I'm waiting for more mods. :D

Thanks & Greetings!
