I run first time from a USB. There is a log in required. I don't have the default user name and a pwd. What is it?

Maybe you got a pirated copy of Puppy.
Is there a Product Key on the box?

I think he's making a joke, Karl.
Seriously, I think Puppy sometimes does this, asks for a login name and password. I don't remember why or what to do about it, since it's never happened to me.

Support Agreement |
|
Users who have won the raffle for the support agreement offered on the IRC channel #puppylinux on freenode.net do not have to log in when starting puppy.
Raffles are held multiple times a day.

Yup, when swiching between virtual terminals.
There was similar question somewhere in this section IIRC.

To waif what SFR write in my quote should work. Tell us what Puppy you use
and from where you downloaded it. What did you use to install it with?

That is same answer as Barry Kauler gave some month or
years ago as I remember. So if that fails then you have changed
it yourself or you have to give more info on where you got the iso from.
You don't mention which Puppy you use.

I think you will find that waif is a sleeper, and will lay some spam on us in due course.
Of course I may be wrong.

Adagi and mahaju thanks for that link to the SFS forum. Interesting read indeed.
You may be true indeed. waif has not responded to our kind advice
so either caught up with other things or a spammer bot.
Flash, Makoto better to watch out for this one

Why should I use this service?

Pro: very good from the Forum Admin point of view.
Less spam that way.
Con: It forces the spammers to hijack real accounts
by cracking them or placing trojans on real persons.
To pretend to be them joining.
And it force all of us to be tracked world wide not being able
to use such one time email accounts for magazine subscription
of say New Scientist or PCWorld or similar mags.
Maybe our Admin John Murga can take a look at it?
