Browser security
I really like 4.3.1 and 5.2.5 but both have older browsers that don:t update. I only use the browser and email client.

Thanks for the response,I saw that. I have also checked Wary and Racy 5.3. Seamonkey 2.6.1 is installed, but check for updates is not in the help menu. Seamonkey is now at 2.8. I also use other browsers, but prefer Seamonkey. I also noticed Netscape 9.006 is available, it is a standalone browser.

It appears, from the responses that I should be somewhat concerned. I can get an up to date Seamonkey for windows easily, but that may introduce other vulnerabilities. And I don't like to use that os. I am not aware of a Seamonkey sfs. That might work for Puppies that don't have Seamonkey installed. I suppose I could just use Seamonkey for email and browse with a more up to date browser. Thanks for the replies.
I am not aware of an issue so far.

You could use CUR (Courage Understanding and Reality)

rather than FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt)

Puppys are Safe
Because they are kennel tested

I use an old version of Firefox.
As I recall I installed version 4.xx and it didn't do right in some areas. Because of this I went back to a 3.6 version.
Later, I think, I read on this site that the problem with 4.xx was due to a bug in JWM.
If true. What was I supposed to do? What can I do?
Is there a debugged version of JWM available?

Hello,
In the Saluki forum, HiDeHo posted an idea that may help with this issue.
http://saluki-linux.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=464
He suggests extracting browsers and other applications into /initrd/mnt/dev_save and executing them from there-- via links, by creating .desktop files in usr/share/applications or just by clicking the executable. This makes it easy to replace an application with the newest version (and update links). It is economical because the app can be used by several different puppies (I have several frugal installs) and it doesn't increase the size of the pupsave file.
I have tried this with opera, firefox, java, truecrypt and skype, and they work fine.
