Which PPPoE DSL Ethernet/USB modem/router?

Hello! I am a day 2 newbie, running version 2.02 using live CD on a 4 month old Dell Dimension 9150. My DSL modem is over 6 years old, has only a USB port, and I have read that connecting using USB is almost impossible. Any recommendations on a very easy to connect and use modem/router to buy in the US? (The recommendation being both a modem and a router is optional.) Due to also having a very old laptop without an ethernet connection, the modem/router will need to have both ethernet and USB (for winblows) ports (unless I could use some kind of ethernet to USB adapter?). It would also be great if it could be bought at places like BestBuy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, or even Walmart. My ISP is SBC, which merged with AT&T. If someone can also tell me where to go, for step by step instructions on installing a printer (HP PSC 1610v), this puppy wannabe will be very happy.
