Funny...but that method seems to work almost 100%. I can almost count on an answer popping into my head during a long walk, or whatever it takes to stop thinking about it. Playing the piano works also, although for some reason that's better for new ideas popping in (ie, the next project).

Manual frugal install on the Athlon XP box working well, except the two little apps mentioned earlier. Otherwise looking great.

James C. I believe there is something unusual with Dpup setup and your network connection. Debugging it would be challenge but might benefit. It looks like something inhibits the connection with getflash script and with gtk-youtube-viewer.

If you launch the gtk-youtube-viewer in console and it is time to connect...does it spill any errors.

I think that also installing from debian repo strace command. And then launching: strace getflash might debug what goes wrong with your flash downloading. First I wondered if it is my kernel...but it seems to happen with this 2.6.39.4 kernel also. I wonder if it is your router setup.

Do you have working getflash with other Puplets or Puppies ?
Previous debugging has not shed any light but I try to be persistent.

Exprimo 5.X.14

GetFlash fails.....I usually just install Flash manually but if you want to do some debugging ,,,,, Laughing

Code:
# getflash
'http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.1.102.63/install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz'
NEWVERSION=11.1.102.63
INSTALLED=11.1.102.55

/usr/sbin/getflash: line 23: 10303 Terminated              LANG=$LANG_USER gtkdialog-splash -fontsize "large" -icon $MYICON --placement center -bg $BGCOLOR -timeout $TIMEOUT -close never -text "$@"
/usr/sbin/getflash: line 23: 10843 Terminated              LANG=$LANG_USER gtkdialog-splash -fontsize "large" -icon $MYICON --placement center -bg $BGCOLOR -timeout $TIMEOUT -close never -text "$@"

See screenshots. GetFlash launches and after a brief pause the first dialog box appears.
After clicking on the "yes" button to download Flash there is only about a one second pause before the second dialog box appears saying that Flash has been downloaded. Not.
Flash isn't downloaded and even though I have a high-speed connection the about one second pause is nowhere near long enough to complete the download. As soon as the "yes" button is clicked the second box immediately pops up.

Gtk-youtube-viewer.....

Hi pemasu

Pristine, frugal, manual install of 5.x.14 on my HP550 laptop.

All looks good - in particular the Broadcom-STA wl driver is loaded and creates eth1 which is persistent over a reboot.

A couple of small comments though....

You seem to have included an old version of the Broadcom-STA driver:

from dmesg:
Quote:
eth1: Broadcom BCM4312 802.11 Hybrid Wireless Controller 5.100.82.38

the latest version is: Broadcom BCM4312 802.11 Hybrid Wireless Controller 5.100.82.112

Do you want me to compile the up-to-date version??

Also - I've searched and searched and searched for the licence file (or even the license file) and am unable to find it......

Cheers
PeeBee

Peebee. I would be grateful if you compile the latest wl module...I used the version I had in hdd.
License.txt. You are right...I forgot to add it. I need to place the license.txt to zzdpup-utilities pet so that it will be added automatically.
Will be in next version update.

Hi pemasu

Attached is the recompiled wl.ko version

broadcom_sta_x86_32-k2.6.39-exprimo-v5.100.82.112

to compile and get it to work on 5.x.14 I had to apply a small patch and also use the make API=WEXT option

Cheers

Peebee, thank you !!!

James C. I noticed that Dpup seems to use different gtkdialog-splash script than woof provides. Some pet seems to overwrite the default version. I will hunt down that pet.

Meanwhile....Install the attached pet. It will install the woof version of gtkdialog-splash over the existing one. Lets see if gtkdialog-splash behaves for you then with flashdownloader ie getflash script.

Probably it does not fix anything..but you never know.

If not....what happens if you run in console:
wget http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.1.102.63/install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz

Interestingly though, if I copy the link (minus "wget") into Firefox... downloads with no problem.
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.1.102.63/install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz

Appears it may be a wget problem.Or something entirely different.

OK, tried to download the gtkdialog-splash-fix-0.0.1.pet with wget, it failed as well.
