Hi, I've tried to install uzbl from the instructions in their site using git, but it throws two screens of errors beyond my knowledge.

In wellminded search I have found traces that there once was a .pet of that program, no longer available.

Anybody can pass it or maybe, if it is not hard, compile it again?

It is said in the comments that the resulting file, with dependencies and all the rest, is huge, but I don't mind it if it works and I can use vim keys.

In case someone is in the mood, I'd prefer the uzbl-browser version, which has config files and is thus ready to go.

Maybe there is another vim maniac like me out there who could do the service. Double karma points for you!. Thank you. Smile

Using this site i found uzbl:
Linux Packages Search Site for RPM, DEB, TGZ, TXZ packages
http://pkgs.org/search/?keyword=Uzbl&search_on=smart&distro=0&arch=32-bit&exact=0
used deb2pet on uzbl, libwebkit and ect....

But got these errors on TXZ_pup:
Code:

# uzbl
env: python: No such file or directory
env: python: No such file or directory
uzbl-core: error while loading shared libraries: libwebkit-1.0.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The same errors about the missing shared libraries libwebkit-1.0.so.2 for surf and xxxterm browsers as well.

It is over my skill level as well Sad

I installed uzbl-core from Debian 6 package manager and it was extremely fast on my AMD dual-core. Appears to be just as fast as Dillo, but it renders web-pages better.

EDIT: the debian version is very usable to me now; it was my inexperience that made it not.

There is a learning-curve as the uzbl is meant to be used primarly with a keyboard.

Some people might be interested on this YouTube video about it:
