Yep. 5.X.3.2.8 seems to be optical drive special edition. I got 2 optical drives also. I just dont know where the other one is. :D
Anyway. Console fonts are broken for foreing languages...like me. When I logout to console state...I dont have fonts at all. Nice to type blindly. Barry posted about it today in his blog.
I will wait for the confirmed fix and then I will build next version. I hope other problems will have somehow solution by then.

pemasu wrote:The Udf filesystem support is working okay. The problem is that pmount does not support udf filesystem detection ...
It is the script framework which does not handle udf filesystem correctly.
Maybe update is needed for udf filesystem.
I know nothing of kernels, etc, but I came across the same problem a few months ago..
My 'solution' was also to update pmount, using guess_fstype:

Starts at around line 448:

Code: Select all

if [ "`echo -n "$EXIT" | grep 'DOMOUNT'`" != "" ];then
 DODEV="`echo -n "$EXIT" | cut -f 2 -d '_'`"
 DEVNAME="`echo -n "$DODEV" | cut -f 3 -d '/'`"
 #DOFS="`echo -n "$EXIT" | cut -f 3 -d '_'`"
 DOFS="$(guess_fstype /dev/$DEVNAME)" #akita fix, now supports UDF (and more?)
I have no idea if this is a good idea or not, but mounting CDs and DVDs now works better.

sc0ttman. Thank you for sharing your tip. I think that I will check the problem with time. I am not even sure why Racy shows my chosen dvd movie right and why this build doesnt. I have had corrupt woof platforms before...there is localization bugs...so...brake is needed.

Pgprs had some bug due to internationalization. But I am not sure if it affects the launching and should not affect the detection. But newer woof2 had some new pgprs stuff so...lets see what happens with next version with newer woof. It has new pgprs firmware update also.
I have also recompiled the kernel. Iwlagn module has been removed and iwlwifi has taken its place. I didnt notice it, but now I have. I have also updated the firmwares for it.
Modified woof-code/kernel-skeleton/lib/modules/all-firmware/pgprs/usr/bin/pgprs-setup

Thank you of the reports and thank you Peebee of the wl kernel driver module.
Bear in mind that this thread is still the experimenting thread. New releases with recompiled or upgraded kernel will be coming. I will continue experimenting until I am satisfied to the kernel and also to the woof version I have used.
Things will change and your wl kernel module might not be compatible with next uploaded version.

But there will come time when I stop to one newer kernel version.

Of course - no probs - wanted to try k3.2 especially as saluki is also now k3.2 so my wl driver is part of the experiment....and it found that the patch is needed for k3.2

I have tested 5X328 and all is well.

I also installed your SAMBA, JRE 1.60, Libreoffice, IRON Flash, and AngryIP on the initial boot Exprimo 5X328 without reboot. then, instead of remaster, I used Hibernate to put PC to sleep and awaken, over and over. WORKS!. Its not a replacement for remastering, or for save-sessions, but it does work very, very well.

@Pemasu, you MAY want to update the release number in the Title thread to show your current Exprimo number. Currently its still showing "Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.2.7 with 3.2.7 kernel." versus 5X328.

THANKS! for this great effort.

Additionally, KINO is a tool which is offered in the 64bit platforms which appears to be an attempt to provide MoveMaker tools (akin to Microsoft's MovieMaker in XP/Vistat/Win7/Win8). Is anyone aware of a similar 32bit PET offering for doing this? (For me, I could Linux for "clipping" together segments from my videocam)

Finally, could someone send me a PM to let me know where to provide findings on P??? Package Management? This is found just above Menu>Settings>Puppy Package Management.. This has a look-and-feel which although different, looks promising.

Again, thanks ....everyone on this distro's progress, its useful tools, subsystems, and services it provide the community.

Here ot help

Thanks Gcmartin of your testing feedback.
Yeah hibernating enable to boot with pfix=ram...install pets...open files....hibernate...let your comp shutdown and power off. And boot back to that puppy and have all the stuff back as it was...without savefile.
You need to define in menu.lst...in kernel row: resume =/dev/sdXX
And your swap partition will be locked if you boot other puppy instead...it will relieved when you boot that hibernated puppy and the snapshot will be rewritten back to the hibernated puppy and you get your snapshot situation back.

Nice thing to play with.

About version....yeah I know...but I have already 3.2.9 now in use...and this one looks also ok.
I compiled this on core 2 and up, SMP, hyperthreading, multicore scheduler enabled version and probably I will upload this one also...then I will update the first page also :D

As James C has shown....Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.2.9 has been uploaded. Latest woof2 commit used.

Kernel 3.2.9, core 2 and up optimized, SMP, hyperthreading, multicore scheduler, low latency ie preemptive kernel, hibernation enabled
Firmwares have been updated and differs now from what woof offers.

Pburn, Gnewpet has been updated to the latest. Should otherwise have about latest Puppy Apps from Murga-forum.

Download link: http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/DpupSque ... rimo5X329/

Kernel sources: http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/Kernel_s ... nel-3.2.9/

I would like to stay with this kernel for awhile if there isnt any big bugs with kernel.

USB mouse

#80 Post by gyro »

Fresh frugal install of 5.X.3.2.9

Still have problem with logitech USB mouse (and keyboard) not being recognised at boot time. Have to unplug and plugin the USB device to get them working.

Looked in the logs, problem seems to be "hid_logitech_dj" module doesn't get loaded when device is detected at boot time.

If force loading of the "hid_logitech_dj" module, problem disappears.

The question still remains, why does this problem only occur with this kernel. (Same problem occurs with luki-13, but not Slacko, Racy or Quirky)?
Are there any other "hid_*" modules that fail to load?

Note: There is a catch 22 situation with the puppy interface for forcing the loading of a module at boot time, for the mouse. The left hand list contains only modules that are not loaded, but unless you have loaded the module, you have no mouse to navigate the interface.
