Short answer, yes. Some Slackware packages simply install and work out of the box but others may require some manual intervention.

Yes. It seems to be a stable one.
I've been using the following version, for quite awhile, without any surprises popping up:
Chromium 18.0.996.0 (Developer Build 116133 Linux)

Fetch and install, what?
Are there some populated package repositories, that I am not aware of, for Slackware 13.x?
Since the days that I used Slackware 9.x, 10.x, and 11.x, as my main systems, the package repositories have been shrinking steadily. They are now running on empty. What am I missing?

Over 1000 packages in Slackware -13.37 Official ...... looks fairly well-stocked to me.
The Ziggy interface is not working correctly, need to switch the PPM to Classic and update the package lists. Lots of Slackware packages.
EDIT: Over 1000 in the Salix repo and almost 1500 in the Slacky repo as well.

Over 1000 packages... |
One thousand packages?
Talk about missing the boat.

Slitaz has something like 3000 packages these days... And I think they are very small as well...
Its worth taking a look at, as I believe they are more in the Puppy familiy genetically than Ubuntu and Slackware as its based on less is more and small is better etc. It does not depend on the size, but how U use it you know:-)

Yes, Slitaz seems to have about 3000 packages "cooking". But when I checked on one application I use, UFRAW, I find that Slitaz is cooking v. 0.17, released 23 months ago in April 2010. I'd say it was "overcooked" by now.
Version 0.18 came out twelve months ago, in Feb. 2011.
I couldn't find a "stable" UFRAW package for Slitaz, but maybe in a year or two v. 0.17 will migrate over there?
In Puppy 4.xx, and later in Lupu, I've been using Tempestuous' pet of UFRAW 0.16 for several years.
Such is progress...

Playdayz,
In Lucid Puppy News you have this info about trouble with booting.
| Quote: | If it does not boot to a prompt but a black screen, then you should reboot the CD and enter ‘puppy pfix=nox’, in the space that asks for any boot options. Then at the prompt enter ‘xorgwizard’ twice.
Code:
# xorgwizard
# xorgwizard |
Could you explain why xorgwizard has to be entered twice?
Why one time is not enough?
