how to find your own posts ??

#1 Post by soundNICK »

hmm... as it is, when I search by author name, I get list
of all the THREADS which include posts Ive made... this doesnt help
much when a thread is 100 pages long(!).

Is there a way to get links to specific posts you have made in
this forum ?

hope there is an answer.

The method I use to get all posts ....

1) Click on 'Memberlist' at top of page

2) Enter member name in field and click 'Submit'

3) Click on 'Find all posts by blah blah'

Edit: I forgot the step between 2 and 3 where you click under 'Username'

that didnt quite work for me, but, I DID find a way to do this...
in Search / I entered author name... then... clicked radio button
at end of form, for POSTS instead of topics... clicked go,
and there were all the posts Ive made ! A humbling experience
to be sure : - )

Also, simply, top right of forum main page clickable links,.... "View your posts" is the middle of the 3 clickable links

You can also find other members posts using CatDude's suggestion of clicking on a membername

btw, forum search is here

Can I also request you do not increase the font size for your posts....it's like being shouted at...thanks! :D

I had some problems with your comments...

1) the "View your posts" function does not accomplish what I asked
about - but, you would have had to read the original question before
that would be obvious

2) I was looking to find my own posts, not those of other members...
here, you drop the name, but likewise ignore the excellent answer
CatDude provided

3) forum search... btw ?? That is likely the worst way to find a list
of posts by an author

4) as to why I use a slightly larger font, it is because the tiny default
forum font is difficult for me to read. The font option was in fact
recommended to me after I complained of the eye strain I was
experiencing here.

may I ask that you not troll on my posts again ?

The version of the Forum software we are using is rather "dated", I believe.

The next version, should the forum update, will present a button which does what this refers Thread to with the expected results.

"Just a note."

I agree, "View your posts" doesn't do what it seems like it ought to do. However I believe Aitch was trying to be helpful even though he may not have tried out his answer before posting it.
Your snarky response to him is out of line.
2) I was looking to find my own posts, not those of other members...

I can't figure out what you mean, but again you seem to be attacking Aitch, and again for no reason that I can see.
3) forum search... btw ?? That is likely the worst way to find a list

Using the forum's Search as you described in your second post seems to me to meet the requirements you made in your first post. What's the problem? What does it not do that you asked for in your first post? Perhaps you didn't clearly describe what it was you wanted to do.
4) as to why I use a slightly larger font, it is because the tiny default
forum font is difficult for me to read. The font option was in fact
recommended to me after I complained of the eye strain I was
experiencing here.
But that only makes the text in your post larger. If the forum's font is really too small for you to read comfortably, there are several ways you can make the text in the entire forum - not just your own posts, masterpieces though they may be - larger on your computer. For instance, Ctrl++ usually enlarges all the text on the page, or you could go into your browser's settings and tell your browser to display a larger font.
may I ask that you not troll on my posts again ?
I'd be surprised if Aitch ever again replies to anything you post.
