Subject description: illume in e17

@qkall
Haven't kept up with newer macpups, but illume option was in e17's many and various settings (buried a bit, it may have been a profile? option) - as long as the tablet has enough oomph to run mp, it may do to try anyway. Profiles are a bit tricky as I recall, so be prepared (backup, etc).

Macpup 525 and earlier (520 & 511) Have illume But I have never used or tested it. I removed it in 528 to save space.

hmm as i'm one of those weird 'need to have most recent version' guy... any way into adding it to 528 and/or getting it included in the future? i peep'd your site and it doesn't look like you have made a .sfs/.pet due to them not working well with puppy.... and this is kind of a killer feature for me Razz

A lot of the illume stuff has been merged into e in the latest builds. I haven't released an update yet because some of the features don't work right at the moment. But that isn't unusual for the e team, they change stuff 5-6 times a day in the SVN. In a week or two and it will be fixed.

I can see several issues with running macpup on a tablet ,first I don't know if it will work with a touch screen. If it doesn't you wont be able to customize the setup for the tablet because macpup's desktop is pre configured.

I know that bodhi has had some success running on tablets. You may need to try that.

At the moment I am in theme mode. Duma did an re configuring of the old Elive Topaz theme. I have updated some of the components. Clock,Battery,Temp,CPU freq and added a boot splash screen. I will have it up later today or tomorrow.

Valid things to consider. Luckily its one of those tablet/laptops... so I'm not too worried about touch screen initially ad long as I can use it after some tweaking. I was looking at bodhI but when I went to their site... non of the links worked. Just didnt scream optimism do me Smile.

Either way thanks for speedy replies.

To anybody who owns a tablet computer...

A user reported some success in using the pen in
a tablet computer in this thread.
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=598819#598819

He was using Lucid Puppy and had the following

M1300 tablet computer. Pentium M, "1000 MHz"
512 Mb RAM

If anybody else can get a tablet computer to work
They should report in the forum.

okay i tried it last night... and i couldn't get mac pup 525 to boot... kept getting a kernel panic error right after it says loading .sfs into ram. i made sure the download was okay and reburned the brand new disk a couple times with no luck...

i did try bohdi.... sorta hated it lol. they made too many (imho) customizations of illume(some were admittily pretty cool... like the application menu) ... and i had some quarks with getting firefox to work.... but touch screen worked out of box!

so more messing around today. Surprised . i'm going to give 528 a whirl to see it'll boot.

I have uploaded a Firefox-10.pet and a Opera-11.62.pet to the macpup528 folder on my macpup page. Both work well with the newest Flash .I have had problems with FF 10.0.1 and .0.2 . We are testing a update for 528 now.

Got my (Australian) APC today. There is Macpup on the free DVD.
I hope anyone who tries it has better luck than I have with this type of thing,
my copy is on my desktop so I can copy it and give it to anyone who likes to try it.
