Note that I didn't say it would be super effective. That only happens in videogamesjpeps wrote:right....cause they're out playing golf or hunting. I hope you remembered to send a big check. edit: that wasn't really fair....they also attend sports events when not watching them on TV. What they definitely do NOT do is read the bills that they legislate.
What I was *thinking* in my post was... if the people on the Puppy forum, or at least those who live in the US, would look up and call up their representatives (however ineffective) then that might have at least the illusion of affecting the results. I intend to talk to my (few) friends and see if they are willing to do what I did.
Going through respectable means of changing society may not be as simple (or immediately effective) as less established means, but it does make it harder for stupid people to outlaw smarter behavior. Personally, I wouldn't mind putting my own political views out here, if not for (a) this forum being entirely the wrong place and (b) I'd probably get my head on a pike anyways -- I'm a bit of a radical (hint: I don't like capitalism very much). I will mention that even though I'm registered Independent, I'm probably the most Democrat leaning member of such group in at least my county if not my state...
