Ttuuxxx has a version that's still available.
I don't know if the locales are included.
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 3ba3d0747b

I have good luck with apps I find on
launchpad.com
I get the locales by opening up the debian versions.
That's how I avoid compiling.

By the way a good way to find things on the
Murga forum ---> I go to Google and enter
mp3splt + murga

Sylpheed email program

#82 Post by don570 »

I changed the configuration file in Sylpheed

'en' was changed to 'de'

However unlike Abiword I found
that I still had to go to the menu to choose spell correction.

I didn't see an option to do spell correction automatically.

The claws email program does do spell correction automatically.

Remember to avoid putting in files named
normal.awt such as

/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt

Abiword site says that it is not needed
since it will use default values.
I have found that Abispell dictionaries work better
if these files aren't installed.

01micko seems to have have discovered this as well.
I looked in his slacko 531 and didn't see any file named
nomal.awt

Note you can put in files like

Code: Select all

/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-da_DK
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-de
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-de_AT
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-de_CH
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-de_DE
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-div_MV
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-el_GR
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-en_AU
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-en_CA
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-en_GB
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-en_IE
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-en_NZ
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/templates/normal.awt-en_ZA
which is what 01micko has done.

Here are some eye candy for you. I am not only a worker on puppy linux, a drummer and a composer. I like also to make photographs - and then working on them using GIMP and/or Corel Photopaint.

I hope you will enjoy these wallpapers!

mp3splt available
Have downloaded all files. Actually working on uplodads to smokey's server and checking md5sums.

Can you tell me why there is a need to split mp3 files?

I'd never ever heard of that large mp3 files needed to split. :?

I will try audacious within the next days. Did run it one time, couldn't find a media database like the .xml file used in aqualung.

Audacious is without media database?

Thank you again for all your work, testing and suggestions.

Thank you very much for downloading and trying LazY Puppy 5.28-4. Hmm, ... India! :D

I know it is quite uncomfortable to download the files at mediafire (especially if downloading severals files at a time). Actually i have got ftp account to the server of smokey01. Some .sfs files are already uploaded, but i haven't improved the md5sum yet. So its better to wait a few days.

This all will be ready to download at smokey's server at least at the weekend (maybe Saturday or Sunday for sure). Then i will post the new links to download at the first post (Download Area).

amazing puppy

#90 Post by nancy reagan »

Hi RSH,

I think this is an amazing puppy, its base already so full featured, not to speak of all the extra sfs's and yet so lightweight..

Gruendlich und erstaunlich, while being 84 yrs old ???

Some remarks from a low profile wannabee user.

I think that even when I choose English I sometimes get german text. Not now so I cannot give examples apart from a few on the desktop muell verbinden und sichern. And found out that only after FN11 I get English.

As I say "not now", but on former startups I thought "well this is not handy for non-Germans". (I haven't yet done a "save session". so I don't remember when I thought this.) Besides being Dutch I understand some deutsch.

The usb, which contains the system, is not shown as "being mounted". Maybe this is because I have not yet saved a session ?

Hi Nancy!

Yes, maybe it is "gründlich und erstaunlich" but: please, please, please don't call me older -84- as i am -48- :D  :D - however, that's funny.

To your problem about the "German" icons, saying f.e. "Konsole". This is because i have saved my personalize desktop icon settings using "menu>desktop>desktop settings>desksetup templates for desk icons".

At post No. 2 of this thread (this is the Info- & Update Center) i have set some links to solutions, tips, bugfixes, updates, statistics - to guide the users and get them easily informed. I have posted a reference to this post at post No.1. It seems most users just jump to the last post and did never read the first post again - where i have informed about this.

Never mind. Now i hope you are informed on that special feature of this thread and you will get all updates (1), bugfixes (1), informations (lots) etc. available.

Always when you are using LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4 without save file, the usb device will not be automatically mounted.

Greetings

RSH

I made the corrections to psnapshot
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 913#595913

I also completely localized it so that screenshot browser
can show German.

The cutting or splitting of long mp3 files is quite tedious if you use
audacity or mhwaveedit. I download radio shows from the internet
and they are 2 hours long. When I leave Bacon Recorder on overnight
the files can be several hours long. So mp3splt is necessary for me.

Audacious works with mp3splt but I've found that I need a
clean empty Audacious playlist, otherwise the connection won't
be made between Audacious and mp3splt.

Ok, i understand. I do not use internet radio and so i could not imagine of such big mp3 files.
Audacious works with mp3splt but I've found that I need a
clean empty Audacious playlist, otherwise the connection won't
be made between Audacious and mp3splt.
So this is the reason Audacious has to build in or did you mean it will fail?

I could just convert the mp3 files to wav with a script but that requires
a big hard drive which I currently have fortunately.

01smokey has recommended Streamripper to me.

Aqualung seems to have the same features but it doesn't look
as attractive.

Audacious doesn't need to be builtin. It only takes a few seconds to install.

Here's another suggestion...

To switch the keyboard layout have you tried fbxkb

Hi, RSH!
First I say I'm impressed by Your great work! It seems to be a more rich distri among the puppies...
But I got into lots of trouble installing it. So far it isn't stable, maybe through some faults I made.
After 6 or 7 attempts to install I succeeded this morning, writing a good menu.lst as it was recommended.
But then I recognized that system can't shut down. Don't know why. I pressed the power-button on my laptop few seconds and booted again.
While booting there came up 7 lines with "done" and "[backgrounded]".
Last line: Recognising media devices... optical input done

And then only
#

nothing happens.
What can I do? Try to install again (on hda)?

I installed again. First all was fine. Then again can't shut down.
Installing worked without writing initrd. The menu.lst and lazysave.2fs are in /boot/grub/.
How can I rebuild the shut-down?

Hi Dancer,
it would be interesting how you installed Lazy - Full, or Frugal.
Did you use the wizards?
Where did you install it (hardisk partition)?
Also your grub entry would help.
cheers
