Hydra-6.3 Network Loggin Cracker |
|
I noticed that I could not find Hydra in the package manager or a pet for it so here is one. Hydra is a fast network loggin cracker. I think I made it right and seems to work fine on 520 and 501. If I need to fix anything please let me know and i'll attempt to fix it with my limited knowledge.

Why would I even want such an application on my PC.
If you tell me of some legal uses of it and not for hacking, then you might have my interest aroused.
But otherwise, I think the offering should be removed from the forum.
I would not want even the slightest chance that the forum would be associated with hacking anything or supplying the tools to do so.

YOU probably would have absolutely no use for this or most of the other tools and programs that i've posted here on the forum but there are many legitimate uses for this as well as all of the others. Just because you see this tool and think or people doing something illegal does not mean that it what it is being used for or will be used for. For a long time I used Backtrack as my main distro for my day to day job duties however it has gotten too bloated over time I feel and i've compiled most of the apps/programs/tools I used into puppy and now use puppy instead for most of the work that I do. If you wanted all the pets taken down that can be used for malicious purposes which most of them also have good and useful purposes then u'd have to take down apps such as wireshark and kismet as well as Attackpup which according to the download counts serves a lot of people on this forum. Anyway sorry about the rant and here is the legitimate reason for using Hydra straight from the website "This tool is a proof of concept code, to give researchers and security consultants the possiblity to show how easy it would be to gain unauthorized access from remote to a system."

Thank you for the possible use as a proof of concept tool.
That I could see.
You are also right that the app would not serve any purpose for me personally.

Answering he who asked above, you personally may not have a use for such a tool. I'll tell you, I've been helping people with their computers and ask them if I may connect to their wifi. They say "Of course, go ahead!" I ask them for their network password and they say "I have no idea." I ask them who would know and it's often someone who's simply not reachable who worked on their computer x years ago. THAT's what I personally would need this for. Nearly anything can be used for some evil purpose, and that's no reason to restrict access to that thing. Thanks for making this available.

Hey Konsult, these versions of Hydra were created a long time ago with some of the older Puppies (I think i use 5.2 to create them) so they may not be compatible with whatever version you are using. If you let me know what Puppy you have I may have a copy laying around that's compatible or I could do one up for you if I have the time.
