can Puppy extract RAR files?

#1 Post by nubc »

Is there any utility in the Wary Puppy standard toolkit that will unzip/extract RAR files? How do I accomplish this task?

I havent used Wary, but I thought it would be nice to have sometimes unrar option in rox right clicks straight. Ok, Xarchiver and File-Roller options I have already which handles rar files extraction straight, but since Wary probably dont have them....I created rox right click called unrar. Right click .rar package in folder and this right click should extract the .rar file to the same folder...if I did made all things right.
This package also has /usr/bin/rar binary which is needed for the real unrar processing.

Test this one. Install the pet and then use right click inside Rox and locate unrar option.

pemasu's pet is the easy way

but if you want the full program-------->

Download rar and install in executable path

When you install rar , xarchiver should recognize it
automatically.

Type xarchiver in console to launch it.

I did reupload version 0.0.2 to the previous post so that it extracts to the same folder. I used now the existing Puppy script to do the work properly.

I made a mistake with my advice.

Once rar is installed in an executable path you then type
'xarchive' in the console to launch or you can just
click on the rar archive and it launches automatically.
