Standalone Kdenlive Version 0.8.1 (rev. 5850) package 76MB!

#1 Post by battleshooter »

Over the past few years I've had people ask me about a cutdown stand alone Kdenlive... Well finally here it is. The smallest standalone Kdenlive package I could put together.
(Well it's small for KDE, but by Puppy standards..)

All dependencies are included. Only installation requirement is to have a pupsave created before installing pet, otherwise Kdenlive will crash on trying to play anything. It's compiled on Lupu 5.28 with none of the updates.

Download kdenlive-0.8.1.pet (76MB)
md5sum:c46eacddbdb625702fc5e7072c243a76

or

For those who like SFSs *cough*sunburnt*cough* ;) :

Download kdenlive-all_528.sfs (77MB)

Notes
If you have QT installed, it will probably clash with this package as it comes with its own QT.

Here's a list of what's installed in the pet:

Kdenlive stuff:
dvgrab-3.5
libavc1394-0.5.4
libdv-1.0.0
libiec61883-1.0.0
gavl-1.2.0
OpenCV-2.3.0
frei0r-20110629
ladspa_sdk
recordmydesktop-0.3.8.1
libquicktime-1.2.1
sox-14.3.2
libsdl1.2debian-all_1.2.14-4ubuntu1_i386.deb
libsdl1.2-dev_1.2.14-4ubuntu1_i386.deb
libsdl-image1.2_1.2.10-1_i386.deb
mlt-0.7.4
kdenlive-rev5850

KDE dependencies:
kdesupport-4.6.3
kdelibs-4.6.3
libdbusmenu-qt-0.8.2
phonon-4.5
qjson-svn
qt-4.7.2

All headers have been removed to make the package smaller. If you'd like them to try your hand at compiling, let me know and I can package the dev files separately.

What's Kdenlive?

Kdenlive is a free open-source video editor for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD, which supports DV, AVCHD and HDV editing. Kdenlive relies on several other open source projects, such as FFmpeg, the MLT video framework and Frei0r effects.

It's one of the more established video editors for Linux, it's been around so I find it's got quite a few useful tricks up its sleeves :) :

Kdenlive is the most versatile video editor available today:
  • Support for a wide range of camcorders and cameras, including:
    • Low resolution camcorder (Raw and AVI DV editing).
Mpeg2, mpeg4 and h264 AVCHD (small cameras and camcorders).
High resolution camcorder files, including HDV and AVCHD camcorders.
Professional camcorders, including XDCAM-HD™ streams, IMX™ (D10) streams, DVCAM (D10) , DVCAM, DVCPRO™, DVCPRO50™ streams and DNxHD™ streams (decoding only, encoding untested). Please note that Kdenlive does not offer the original codecs, but only that we use FFmpeg free software codecs, which can read original streams and sometimes export as well. When you own a camcorder, there is no reason why you should not be able to read your own films.
Multitrack edition with a timeline and unlimited number of video and audio tracks.
Video and audio tracks organized in layers.
Tools to create, move, crop and delete video clips, audio clips, text clips and image clips.
Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts.
A wide range of effects and transitions. Ability to add custom effects and transitions.
Non-blocking rendering using a rendering separate application. Stop, pause and restart rendering. Continue to work on your project without any possible loss of data.
    Export to standard formats:
    DV (PAL and NTSC).
Mpeg2 (PAL, NTSC and HDV) and AVCHD (HDV).
    High quality h264.
    Non-destructive formats.

kdenlive: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtSvg.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN14QObjectPrivate15checkWindowRoleEv
Doesn't play nice for me :(

Will check with a pfix=ram puppy, could be my setup

Ahhh that's interesting. Do you have any Qt apps or previous Qt installations? Kdenlive depends on it's own Qt so they could be clashing. I'll add a list of what's in the Kdenlive package so people can determine if anything they already have installed will clash. Thanks for testing by the way. Are you using Lucid 5.2.8?

Hello,

i have downloaded the .pet. Mostly i use my LazY Puppy 528 without using a savefile (pupmode 5???). That's the reason why i prefer using sfs files. I have build a sfs out of the pet and it works in my LazY Puppy 528 without using savefile (imported mpg file and played in full length).

Unfortunately jack audio doesn't run anymore. After installing jack again, kdenlive doesn't run.

However, i like this one and i will give it a try and spend some time on it (next year).

On 3headed dog, update 001
Almost same as p310don:

Code: Select all

sh-4.1# kdenlive
kdenlive: symbol lookup error: /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.7.2/lib/libQtSvg.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN20QGraphicsItemPrivate20focusScopeItemChangeEb
When I later installed Clementine it worked....

If you need to reperform the job, would be so kind enough to make 0.8.2.1
(as 164 bug fixes... seehttp://www.kdenlive.org/discover/0.8.2 )

Thanks

First of all, thanks for all the feedback guys.

@RSH

That's great it works as an SFS without needing a pupsave. It's a pity about JACK though. I'm pretty sure it's not Kdenlive causing the clash, but rather one of its included dependencies. Which do you think would be most likely to cause JACK to fail?

@live

That's strange. At first I would have thought you had the same problem as p310don, but then I don't see why adding Clementine's lib's would help, unless Clementine comes with it's own QT that completely overrides Kden's. I'm starting to think I might package QT separately so that it won't clash with other people's existing setups if they already have QT.

I tried again, if I install Clementine after then Kdenlive launch OK.

Now some additional points:
1/ It says that it made and entry menu in 'none', true until startx refresh, then the Kdenlive menu appears in 'multimedia'

2/ When starting for 1st time Kdenlive (after Clementine install), it indicates that 'AV format module (FFmpeg)' is missing.

3/ Crash when try to import for instance a JPEG - suppose linked to 2/

Hoping for fixed 0.8.2.1 version.

Thanks

@Adagio, are you running in Slacko or Lucid 528 or something else?

@live I just remembered 3 headed dog uses a different kernel and different ffmpeg, so I don't really know if this Kdenlive will work like it should or at all with the 3 headed dog. The issues you're experiencing aren't actually because of the version of Kden, it'll be because this.

Yes more recent ones (Kernel 2.6.37.6 & ffmpeg 0.8.2 I think)

Still leaning on Linux, but about the kernels.
Everytime there is a new kernel release, means a new recompilation necessary?
I suppose not when security release for example. 3.1.0 to 3.1.6

Hopefully a SFS package..?

I`m so sick of trying to uninstall Pets that I won`t use them any more.

I keep saying... Stop making Pets and start making SFS packages instead.!

Ah yeah, I'll give the same disclaimer I mentioned for live, Kdenlive might not work like it should or at all because Slacko isn't the same environment Kden was compiled in.

That said though, I don't mind helping to get it going in another environment.

Hey Koolie,

Sounds like a bad download or a clashing installation. Do you have another KDE4 or Qt installed?

Here's the md5sum for the pet:

Great, sounds like it was a QT clash and the fresh install may have overridden the clashing stuff.

Kdenlive Title Clip Creation

#19 Post by Dpup »

Testing Standalone Kdenlive, really a remarkable application, works well with all my HD camera clips, still images.

But have not been able to render Title clips, although they display correctly in program monitor. The rendered Title clips all have a big INVALID when played in any format.

Same results in Puppy 5.2.5 and 5.2.8 - 4. Did I miss something?

Thanks for providing such a great program in Puppy.

Update 02/14/2012 Problem Fixed !!!
I tried just blindly installing QT4.4.8 to see what would happen....
The INVALID video in rendering titles now works fine...

Awesome, so glad you got it fixed. Wow, QT 4.4.8 seems to be the cure for all evils . Not really sure why, maybe I have stripped the included QT too much? I guess we'll have to see as more reports filter through. Thanks for reporting how you fixed it.
