Motorola 62412-51 56k internal modem question

Has anybody succeded getting a 56k Motorola 62412-51 to work on Puppy?
I have Simplepup installed on my pc but it can't detect it. Any add'l drivers needed?
Any help will be appreciated.

elsewhere people have reported that the slmodem pupget worked for
their non-slmodem, so barry recommended giving it a try if you're having trouble. at the worst it still won't work & you'll just have to uninstall the package.
