Printing with mtPaint

#1 Post by darkcity »

As a newbie it wasn't obvious how to get mtpaint to print.

I found using "lpr %f" with my printer set to server default worked. However, it doesn't give a dialogue box to set scale etc.

I contacted the developer and he said

"A dialog box can be added by user, if so desired, by configuring the
"Print" action to use a GUI printing tool, such as "gtklp" (
http://gtklp.sourceforge.net ) which is more-or-less standard on
Puppy, and should be installable through 5.1's package manager."

I'm not sure how to do this "gtklp" is not reconised in the terminal and does not come up in puppy package search.

Any help much appreciated ; -)

nice one, works a treat!

I wonder if there is anyway to alert newbies - like myself to this solution more easily?

Does Gimp or mtPaint+gtklp allow me to print a image across 2 A4 sheets?

Also is it possible to add print feature to Viewnior?

thanks

Both gtklp and gtklpq are already in Slacko...for some reason there's no .desktop files however, so they're not in the menu.

Thanks for the heads up.

I will update the wiki - to mention no need to download gtklp in slacko.

Is mtpaint configured to use gtklp in Slacko or is the print option still defaulted to kprint?

Also what is gtklpq?

default is kprint. I didn't know about gtklp until this thread. gtklpq is the printer queue (shows jobs...).

I've updated the wiki-

http://puppylinux.org/wikka/UsingMtPaint

seems making

Code: Select all

gtklp %f
default in Slacko would make 'the experience smootha for the user'
