Pidgin 2.10.1 is updated for puppy 4.3.1, see first post for pets, thanks to Makoto who compiled and packaged it.

I'll compile for lupu and/or slacko/dpup when I have time

EDIT - ignore everything I just said....I now remember that I am an idiot, running Lucid 5.28, and therefore the packages in the Ubuntu repositories should theoretically work and are updated...

Don't know what did you just edit but I'll be compiling latest pidgin for lupu, and Makoto sent me pets for 431 but haven't yet tried them, will upload them soon too!

I was posting out of curiosity if anybody was working on a Pidgin 2.10.12 pet as there were a few important MSN protocol changes in that one :)

But I remembered I could theoretically install it from the Ubuntu repositories in Lucid, so I edited my post :P

Thanks!!!

Is there a version for Racy/Wary? Or a tutorial to compile in Racy/Wary?

Makoto, Dejan, thanks so much. These PETs work fine to me in the latest Wary/Racy, I think they should be in the official repos. 8)

Will that 431 pet for the 2.10.3 version of Pidgin work in Lucid 5.2.8?

They did some major fixes to the MSN protocol in that version so I would rather not be stuck with 2.10.0...?

If you're asking me, I couldn't tell you (I'm not using Puppy 5). It probably couldn't hurt to try, though. Some of the comments above do seem to indicate it works under at least some of the Puppy 5 variations.

I was just asking in general - also, I tried it and it worked fine, so no worries! :)

Pidgin 2.10.4 has been released, reportedly fixing two security issues.
ChangeLog – Pidgin – Trac

I've attempted a build for Puppy 4.3.1 as usual, but it hasn't been field-tested - the 4.3.1 system I had originally been using for compiling Pidgin has apparently gone down for good. :( I've set up a new 4.3.1 environment on much better hardware, and used it to compile this version. Let me know how everything works (or not). :) (It connects on my system, but it's after 2AM, so none of my contacts are around to bounce test messages. )

Thanks! You might also want to archive the dependencies mentioned in the first post of this topic, just in case.

(I miss having my own server space... :( )

Done! They're in their own subdirectory now, on both mirrors. Links from the previous post still apply.

You can always get at least a little space for free (2 GB to start, I think) via Dropbox. Publicly accessible links from a special folder, though you can't browse the files directly, if I recall the details correctly. That's what I do for one of my two mirrors.

Yes, but I was thinking more in terms of getting my webpage back online. I don't know (yet) how my sysadmin would feel about hosting my compilations for Puppy. :)

I never bothered with any of the free webpage hosting services, because I really wasn't sure about their TOSes (any content you post becomes theirs, more or less).

But, this is probably getting OT, so any further discussion would have to be in PMs, I'm sure.

So, has anyone tested the build? :D

Thanks. I guess it's safe to say my build environment is set up correctly, at least. :) (I'm running into a few quirks with other things, with the new setup, but they're not related or crucial.)

A couple more test compiles - this time, both are plugins for Pidgin, built against my Pidgin 2.10.4 (Puppy 4.3.1) dev setup. I probably should've created new topics for these, but wasn't sure, since they may well be tied to both my build of Pidgin and Puppy 4.3.1.

The first is the Purple Plugin Pack (https://www.guifications.org/projects/p ... lugin-pack). Note: the GNU Talk Filters plugin probably requires the actual filters to be installed; I had difficulty trying to create a .pet package for the filters, however. (But, if they DO work without that package being installed, let me know. :) )

The second is pidgin-otr (http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/). You'll need to install libotr as well as the pidgin-otr plugin, I believe.
However, I (and my contacts) don't use OTR, so I haven't tested this beyond making sure the plugin shows up in my plugins list, and that I could change the settings. So, as above, let me know if everything works correctly. I make no guarantees. :)

I don't know, offhand, if these will work with Puppy 5 setups, so if you do try them with Puppy 5 and they work, feel free to mention it here. :D

(I'm not posting any of the DEV/DOC/NLS packages at this time, but I'll add them if necessary.)
