Audio has disappeared Subject description: No sound, no volume icon after alsa 1.0.24 upgrade |
|
I've searched and there appears to be others having problems with the latest alsa upgrade.
My problem: I have 5.2.8 on a pendrive that I run on a HP D530 desktop that had great sound until I ran the Alsa upgrade to 1.0.24, alsa-all-1.0.24-lucid525. Now, I have no sound, no volume icon on the taskbar.
When I run the alsawizard and go through all the menus I get this message in the alsaconf box at the last step:
=======
ALSA lib conf.c:3713(snd_config_update_r) hooks failed, removing configuration
amixer: Mixer attach default error: Invalid argument
=======
Does anyone have a clue what the solution is to this other than fresh install? And no, foolish me, I didn't back up the lupsave as I'm one of those trusting souls. I've learned my lesson with this one, though.

Unfortunately it is so seldom to need to reboot while installing something new ,
but I have installed that alsa-1.0.24 pet on older Puppy 5 series , which
a) needs depmod-FULL instead of depmod -> /bin/busybox [depmod]
AND
b) REEEBOOOOT !!!!
