Hello, Jemimah!

We all have rainy days, some more than others. I'm sorry to hear about your netbooks, and about Puppeee and Fluppy.

I have to say, the first time I tried Fluppy I was not impressed with the appearance, but I went back to it awhile later and was flat-out amazed at what I had been missing because I only gave it 10sec. As for Puppeee... well... my primary computer is an ASUS Eee 1000HEB ;) anyone want to guess what my very first exposure to Puppy was? Yep, Puppeee.

I'm glad to hear that you have a good job (I wish I did) -- and I definitely identify with the whole "I don't like it if it feels like a chore" (which is why I will never be a graphic artist by profession -- I know that if I start having other people tell me what to draw, when, and how, I will put down the pencil for the rest of my life, and I don't want that to happen) -- but I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses you around here.

Also, I'm going to send you a friendly PM in a minute or two... see if I can help with something. My little way of giving back if I can.

Jemimah a big warm hug to you and wish you all the best.

I should not give advice but being a very old old guy I hope
you can forgive me for saying that all experience say that
one should do things because them feel good.

When things feel like a chore or obligation from others then
one easily get worn out.

if you have files that you can share with us on the wayback
server that TLChost talks about do send them to him so
people who love your Puppeee and Fluppy can find the needed
files. If them are gone with those bad luck machines then
gone are gone.

Thanks indeed for sharing with us. Much appreciated.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

BTW... don't think I have Puppeee anywhere still, but I know I have Fluppy 013, and I might still have Fluppy 011. If Jemimah's OK with it, and someone can point me to a hosting place (russoodle: could I use that space you gave me for The Puppy Formerly Known As GreenPup?) I will gladly scan in those CDs (ImgBurn can do that I think) and put them up here.

Hi jemimah

Glad to hear you are ok and that the brain-buds are being stimulated.

If and when you get some time - Puppy ported to arm -
might be a challenge you may wish to consider?

There would be a massive amount of enthusiasm for it -
should you ever feel so inclined.

Regarding Puppeee and Fluppy, we are forever in your debt.
Both are fantastic puppy's and IMHO represent some of (if not the)
finest pinnacles of achievement in PuppyLand.
Without doubt - if one has an EeePC - there is only one OS to use.

What you did was outstanding - much appreciated by so many.

Very best regards and much success with all that you do in the future.

Ray

Jemimah,

Don't feel bad about stopping work on these projects - what you did was fabulous - I have used nothing else besides puppeee and fluppy on my netbooks and they're still the best.

Move on, have fun, work on them, don't work on them, whatever you feel like.

Don't be a stranger to the forum, you're always an honored part of the puppy family.

Best Regards,
tinker

Totally true! I'm glad to hear of you Jemimah (still not able to spell it correctly) :P
I thought we were nnot going to have news about you and you'll just disappear. That's good to know you got an other job.

If you're ever feeling to have charges that you don't want to have... just say it. And more importantly, take time for yourself :D :D
I would say that without puppeee, my eeepc would be dead.

Do you think we could reactivate puppeee website. I would like to see this project still alive. I know that raff was owner of the domain. What do you guys think?

Thanks again for all your work done throughout years.

Etienne :)

Edit: Porting puppy to arm would be fantastic! I have the eeenote tablet and the firmware isn't so great.

Thanks for all your did for us. Fluppy is an amazing piece of work. I really enjoy using it...on desktops, notebooks, netbooks and various systems at school and customer sites.

At one time I had 4 or more Puppies on a bootable USB...now, it's only one...Fluppy. I also suggest on the #puppylinux IRC channel that folks try it...quite a few have.

If you still have material available, I'd be happy to host it in conjunction with the forum at http://puppylinux.us/wayback/

Best of luck with the new job.

Jemimah as I remember some people lack the documentation
you had on that server. Did you save some kind of backup taht you can
send to TLCHost or so?

Oh Jemimah!
Am I glad to hear you were not snagged by a gator in your swamp.
Since I started this thread I have tried a few other puppies but always come back to the one I love! I think had it not been for Puppeee I would have trashed my 701 a couple of years ago so it is nice to echo what was said in the last few posts.
I wish you all the best – and don’t get lost.
I do have one regret and kick myself for it – and that is that I didn’t copy the whole content of your blog to my computer!
All the best
Don

Also I get the impression that the market has largely moved on to tablets.
You know it. I know it. The gator in the swamp knows it. :)

You did good Jemimah. Pemasu was heavily influenced by your efforts and he produces some of the best implementations of our raw boned Puppys.

A lot of us are getting new hardware.
Starting with Pi
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/PARM
as a stepping stone to a future cheap commodity tablet (not yet available)
and large screen phone (further future)

Even now the big manufacturers are wondering if they
need to set 'open tablet' not marketed by Google corp
or just amazon kindling . . .

As it emerges, we will be there . . .

You did good Jemimah. Your voice is always welcome here. 8)

Not to derail the thread (seriously!) but I have a Dell CPi that boots --from CD-- in somewhere around 01:30 (MM:SS) -- tolerances on that are roughly +0sec / -15sec.

<docbrown> tablets? where we're going, we don't need... tablets! </docbrown>

The only tablet in my house is a Velocity Micro Cruz eReader. It is slow, difficult to use, and heavily locked down in terms of software. The screen sensitivity is roughly comparable to the gas pedal sensitivity on my mother's mid-90's Ford Ranger (we still joke about how she practically had to unbuckle and STAND on the pedal to get the thing to respond!). It does have WiFi and a browser, but if I said I was impressed with it... I'm lying so hard that my pants ignited. It's cr*p, and I won't use it.

The sad part is that the specs on that particular tablet probably outshine the CPi -- it's really just a matter of what you do with them ;)

Velocity Micro Cruz eReader
Technical Details

* 256 MB integrated
* 7" TFT 800 x 600
* WiFi 802.11b/g
* 16 oz
* Access to over 2 million eBooks via included Borders eBook library portal application, as well as Cruz Market
* Built-in dictionary, notepad, calendar, alarm clock, contacts, games, and other useful apps
* 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and full browser support-download remarkable content, astonishing applications, and amazing games

* USB and SD card slot for upgradable storage; includes a 4 GB SD card (Pre-installed)

If you really want slow then why not use a E-ink reader.
Them turn page in minutes and the batter last for a month or so :)

Just teasing. Yes maybe that is a too cheap machine. They had to
lower the price to less than half to trust them can sell it.

Thank God all is well with you.

You've build quite an impression with puppeee. There is still nothing that compares, and there may never be. You're like a Steve Jobs for the eee-books. And be assured: you are loved by many that use eee pc's.

Enjoy life, it is too short to waste on things you don't like .....

Ha, I was wrong. The memory spec (256mb) alone puts the CPi right out -- its max memory capacity is 256mb!

Also, Borders went "exit stage left" something like a year ago. They no longer exist at all... good thing Mom put a Kindle app on there.

...and Cruz Market? Really guys? (Would the REAL Android Market please stand up?) Seriously, I don't think Cruz Market has more than maybe fifty apps. It certainly isn't worth even going to.

Puppeee on tablets would be ideal.
However as I keep saying the only working tablet
is the overpriced Ipad . . . at the moment . . .
. . . despite the high price and cost to Chinese workers

Comes on instantly.
Yep no booting.
Is fast and simple to use.
Just works.

Perfect? No. Well it ain't open enough.
You get what you paid for and not one magnet cover more . . .
. . . is it a style of extortion or extortion with style?
Ibet Jemimah has one :)

A friend of mine was a computer expert who refused to use the
inferior mouse and GUI systems (GEM and Windows 1)
. . . they were 'just a fad'.

You know what happened. I know what happened and the gator in the swamp and mouse all know what happened.

Just to repeat tinkers sentiments:
Move on, have fun, work on them, don't work on them, whatever you feel like.

Don't be a stranger to the forum, you're always an honored part of the puppy family.

Thanks again Jemimah. Live long and prosper. :)

wow jemimah with all the effort and advances you made for puppeee its a real shame you just tossed the towel in like that, I really respected the effort and work you put into it, I don't own a eeepc but I did read about it on your threads. Well I just hope you might find another project soon to work on. Looking forward to your next efforts.

Hello All

Here is most of Jemimah's website: puppeee.com.tar.gz
Username = puppy
Password = linux

i grabbed it via the WayBackMachine
and edited a lot of links to point to software packages that are still available.

On the home page are a couple of links: Puppeee Forum and Source Code
that point to what is available on the WayBackMachine.

I did not edit any of the links in the righthand column (sorry)

I hope that someone finds it useful
