Puppy The Cylon. The self aware Robot :)

#1 Post by nooby »

Nope not yet but soon them say. 50 years that is soon :)
Suppose I live 5 or 10 or at most 15 year more statistically
so I will never see one get born I mean programmed but
younger folks maybe will.

Here is food for thoughts.
Hod Lipson builds "self-aware" robots

Rodney Brooks says robots will invade our lives

I am a true pessimist so I think all these guys
are into cyber world dreaming but here is wild
speculation by an optimist and a lot of comments.

Artificial Intelligence will supersede Human intelligence
Started by Christophe Cop

So are you guys among the optimists that trust we do have
aware and at least reasonably intelligent and emotional Robots
withing 50 years?

I really doubt we have. Them said same thing when I was 10 years and I am over 60 now so them can be wrong again!

One thing I find quite interesting is that we are very good at things that computers are bad at (like seeing and understanding) and computers are very good at things we are bad at (like Maths).

Yes it is remarkable how big contrast it is. Them are extremely good at
things that we can totally fail doing and like you point out the computer
in the Robot can be extremely bad at doing what even a child can do.

Getting the feelings of another and feeling empathy and wanting to care for the other.

Computers are very formal and rigid in their logical view on feelings :)

Hahah. Feelings? Who cares. Whatever. Give a logic problem I feel bored!
