How to boot Puppy / Fatdog64 from an external hard drvie? Subject description: Windows to boot normally without the external drive
I just purchased a netbook that should be coming in the mail pretty soon. On my main laptop I am running Ubuntu & Windows Dual boot setup. However, Since I am working in Afghanistan right now and don't have access to windows disks to re-do my partitions for this computer, I want to keep the windows it has installed on it already, and boot Fatdog64 from an external hard drive. What would my process be to do this? Can I install just to that drive? When installing do I just have grub install to the external drive? When the external drive is not plugged in I just want it to boot up to windows like normal. When the drive is plugged in I would like it to boot up to Fatdog64.

Just install to that drive with no grub changes or anything to your existing drive.
Then set the boot order in the ?BIOS to boot from the external drive first or use the Function key on boot to display the Bios Boot menu and pick the external one. That's the way I do it as I don't like to set autoboot to an external drive for security reasons. _________________ I can't remember the last time I forgot something!
