Thanks aarf,
I have made a pet of it here: http://www.smokey01.com/Tman/apps/
In the future, I will probably replace it with an updated version.

I can't really tell the difference in speed.
Also, flashplayer_10.3.183.10.pet is now availiable: http://www.smokey01.com/Tman/apps/

dont have the older one to test but opera-next plus latest flash is giving no cause for complaints. any jerky play back is usually internet connection related.

Slacko and Lucid/3HD have the GetFlash utility by 01micko that downloads and installs the latest flashplayer. It doesn't use any extra space--it just overwrites the old libflashplayer.so. It can be used when one hears of a new flashplayer version or just every week to be safe

Getting and using Flash. Should have the same for JRE |
|
Thanks Aarf
Adobe Flash
In 2011, I have become aware of 2 Flash contribution by Puppy Forum Contributors - @Pemasu - Flash Addition Request when a browser is used the first time on a Puppy desktop. Script done by BarryK.
- @01Micko - Flash Updater Menu item giving users the opportunity to update flash on a running system.
Also, @TMan has provided PET solutions as well.
JAVA-JRE
Another area of need for similar addressing is with JAVA (JRE). This has such wide-spread application both in desktop as well as in browser use. It would be nice if similar solutions were equally available for this Linux addition, as well. The PPM method seems to have had some issues with JRE system updates as well as survivability over reboots.
Hope this helps

The described GetFlash utility is attached.
Also flashplayer-11.pet is availiable -- here-- .
EDIT:
Getflash in Slacko RC, ( and most likely in Lucid 5.2.8 ) only downloads the latest version of flashplayer 10. I will bring this to 01Micko's attention later.
Edit: I have removed the attached get-flash utility as adobe has renamed the target link again. The safest bet is to just get it from the website and extract it to the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins folder.
