What no pics of Puppy running on your helm?
Do tablets like phones, have GPS ? That would be useful . . .
gives us another good reason for tablet development
when possible.
Anyway congratulations. Looks good.

thanks for sailpup |
|
Thank you very much for this English version. As a Brazilian Portuguese speaker it was impossible for me to use the German original derivative.
Definitely English is the real Speranto nowadays.
Fortunately when I visit Berlin in 2008, it was easy to find English speaking natives.
With your sailpup I managed to browse Brazilian coast raster charts using openCPN.
By the way these charts are free to download here:

Such a Brilliant Idea! Thank You!!! |
|
Ahoy Mates =)
I was just having my coffee reading a copy of Chapman's "Piloting, Seamanship and Small Boat Handling" book that my brother gave to me since I have recently been bitten by the sailing bug.
I just installed and updated Lupu to 5.28 from the one I had been using from 5.11. I wanted to take a stroll of it and get it dialed in when I saw this!
I spent most of the summer on my Captains coastal cruiser a 37' Oday sitting in Brookings Harbor on the southern Oregon coast working hard to get her back up to snuff again. She survived the Tsunami of March 11th just fine but won't survive much more neglect though.
While at the harbor I have no Internet Access but I still use puppy on my IBM Thinkpad. I was trying out "Justin Bieber Linux" for fun and it looks very nice and clean but sadly I had to have it "Keel Hauled"! LOL
This looks perfect since I am doing my best to learn all that is involved in being a good first mate. I just knew that Once again Puppy would come to the Rescue! Puppy is just so versatile and agile that it lends it's self eagerly to just about any task you throw at him! I can't wait to get my feet wet in this one!
Thanks Once again for all the Great work done and efforts put into the World's Best Operating System!

Night vision options in English anyone? |
|
Ahoy Mates =)
I am now in Sail Pup and I am very impressed with it and as soon as it loaded the gamma was very low and knew right off it was for night vision. Such forward thinking! I love it!
However me poor eyes are are fading and would love to know how to switch back and forth for those times when I don't need it? (I'll wear an eye patch if need be LOL)
The HTML link on the desktop was very kind. But although I am half Bohemian, it's on the Slavic side and so I don't speak a drop of German =(
Is there a function that can switch between night vision and regular gamma? I really love the Night Vision option but at home it's not needed.
Thank you in advance and You have no Idea how happy I am to have me new Sail Pup as my Mascot! Who needs a Parrot when you can have Sail Pup!!!
Thanks again!

my sailpup experience |
|
Hi sailor,
I have been using sailpup and have some comments to improve next revision.
You should think about including a menu entry for opencpn and maybe some other navigation programs listed in the derivative announcement but not in menu yet. It would be easier to find navigating software without having to read the list of available programs.
Trying to use nautictools I always get runtime error 13 - type mismatch. I dont know how to fix it.
Thanks again for this wonderful derivative.

downloading sailpup |
|
Having trouble trying to get into the ISO site to download sailpup. I am a forum member too
I had to just re-register (this is the third freaking time.. its getting as old as I am!) and it still does not take my forum password. It does not accept user with password Linux either.
Any suggestions or can I find it on Sourceforge or someplace?
Thanks

This pup works OK in ram, but after doing a frugal install the navigation sub menu disappears and all the navigation programs do not seem to have executables. I am using an eeepc 1015 pem

At the download site the files says its a big as close to 400mb.
When i download, i always end up with a 145mb file.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Can the file appear also somewhere else?
