Not a bug, but package manager has fat programs like amaya, ati, git...why not let forum users take care of this ?
/dev/shm needed ? No program uses it.

Pupradio files referencing radio and TV stations are missing from /root/.pupradio
After importing them from another Puppy, pupradio works fine.

media player scaling Subject description: VESA |
|
Installed frugal on USB stick.
When selecting VESA, the mediaplayer does not scale video to full screen, when selecting Xorg, video scaling works OK.
Nice new default theme. a bit dark (forces you to turn the backlight high on laptops at cost of battery life. For that reason I mostly select a lighter theme).
Tested on Athlon64 stsem, Intel dual core7500 system and HP pavilion dv2000 laptop. No problems found.
eeePC 1001HA wireless does not work (RT3090).

I needed the alsa wizard to set up sound. Succeeded OK though. Haven't had to do that for some time with recent Puppy versions.
Didn't have much luck with test calls via PuppyPhone.
I got registered with IPTEL OK though.
Like this version and the theme as well. It runs nice and fast on my middle-aged hardware.

bug: webcam on Pavilion DV2000 Subject description: won't install |
|
Running from USB drive on laptop HP pavilion DV2000
Start gtkam from menu, then add camera (laptop buildin camera is "sonix"), while scrolling down the list system freezes. Mouse cursor moves, but keyboard and mouse clicks are dead. Only hard poweroff works.
I am not sure this ever worked, since this is the first time I try to use the webcam from puppy linux on this laptop.
edit: works OK for wary 5141 (camera is not in the list, but it allows selection of other camera's). 5141 does not freeze.

A bit more testing today.....no real problems.Used default SeaMonkey to watch a bunch of videos.......no shuddering or crashing just smooth video replays.
All settings still persistent through a couple of more reboots.

The amount of resource usage is very impressive as well.Looking pretty good.

Wary 5.1.103 manual frugal install on Dell Inspiron 1100 with an uneventful boot. Sound is fine, mplayer worked well.
Oddly, yesterday, I was unable to connect wirelessly (inability to get WPA IP assigned) despite multiple tries, multiple reboots pfix=ram, but no trouble with wary 5.1.4. I carefully checked my passphrase and even the hashed version in /etc/simple_network_setup/wpa_supplicant.conf-xxxxxxxxx. Today, no troubles at all. Cannot reproduce the problem.
pwidgets.2.0.8 lists "Wallpaper" as a dependency, but it is unavailable (and maybe unneeded).
Icons are missing from the main pwidgets window (see jpeg). Looking at the code, it appears to me (ignorance in action perhaps) that /usr/share/icons/gtk-add.png is used but missing are:
gtk-remove.png
gtk-go-up.png
gtk-go-down.png
So back to wary 5.1.4, the pwidgets window is fine though I cannot find any of the mentioned icon files. Can somebody take pity and educate me as to where the pwidget button icon files are in wary 5.1.4?
Jon

Bonjour,
About using gparted, localization in french :
French locale file is in /usr/share/locale/LC_MESSAGES directory.
Gparted launched by clicking on the /usr/sbin/gparted file, it appears in french. OK!
Gparted launched by clicking on the /usr/sbin/gpartedbin file, it appears in french. OK!
But, Gparted launched by clicking on the /usr/sbin/gparted_shell file, it appears in english only.
Does anyone have this problem also in another language?
Cordialement
