i'm surprised that this hasn't been posted already. This is available in the ubuntu repos but it won't work unless you have the devx installed (this is the later version from the debian repo), it needs certain perl things not in a normal lupu.
So using 'CDE' http://www.stanford.edu/~pgbovine/cde.html' i ran gmusicbrowser
Code:
./cde gmusicbrowser
and captured it as a portable, and then compared the captured portable against a vanilla lucid 525 install, to see what it was using. Then put everything into this pet, so that it works in a vanilla lupu.

gmusicbrowser will play anything mplayer can. look in the preferences and tick mplayer in the audio tab. I've also attached a gstreamer.pet if you would like to use that. It's a hearty 16mb though! For that you get 'replay gain' and an equalizer.

Also attached are some extra layouts. you can look here in the gmusicbrowser forum for more layouts and plugins http://forum.gmusicbrowser.org/

it would be good if anyone could get the conky lua layouts working http://forum.gmusicbrowser.org/index.php?topic=439.0
