Request for Guayadeque media player .pet

#1 Post by debaser »

Hello, I am fresh meat puppy. Music help please!!
I've tried pmusic and it is too weirdly laid out.
I've tried deadbeef and it doesn't work very well (ages to index).
Then I tried banshee and it duplicates tracks on rescan. (in 2.1 - read on a forum this was fixed in 1.8 so it's broke again!).
What I really want is someone who has a clue about these things to create a package for Guayadeque. I have a had a good search about and cannot find one or any discussion about it, which I find odd as it is the best player out there??!!
Here is my question on Sourceforge for ref:
http://guayadeque.org/forums/index.php? ... mment_2669
Anyone any advice or up for some heavy petting (packaging)?
Cheers guys

Thanks, I'm having a look. It does seem to be a bit like deadbeef in that it will take ages to index. I assume it can be set to not autorescan every startup.
Music is on a NAS box btw, which makes read slower than local storage and seems (maybe unfairly) compounded running in ram.

Thanks. It's still indexing...!
I selected the mplayer option but can;t play flac, probably needs a restart when indexing finished.
Also, what is the gstreamer plugin for, I'm noticing quite a few tracks it cannot play in the settings summary but not which ones they are - assume this will help?
I still miss my smart play mode in Guayadeque!

If you don't get it sorted you could go here and start again fresh.

.debs install the same way as .pets.

Hi 666PhilB
I saw your response on the guayadeque site.
Do you want to post your pet and I will try on my install (just in case it's something peculiar to your pup)?
I should probably just try and sort it myself but I never seem to have the time to learn what to do. Maybe when finished this damn house move.
Cheers

Yes, you're right, but I guess you are using Pmusic 1.x.x. Pmusic 2 has taken a huge step in direction of unweirdness. If you actual use Pmusic 2, please tell me what you find weird, and you might see a better release in the future.

Be aware that Pmusic 2 requires newer backends than found in many Puppies. Puppy 5.3 (Slacko) includes all what it takes.

Pmusic thread can be found via my signature

Yes, I tried 1.8.3 Sigmund.

I have just had to go away (as a new puppy user) and read about Puppy 5.28, 5.3, 6 and 7! Or, in summary - it's based on Ubuntu, no slackware, no debian, no -let's do a full rewrite!!! <side glances to the LFS and OpenBSD discs ....arghhh!!>

Glad to hear pmusic 2.0 is simpler and I will give it a second shot when 5.3 is out. (I'm sticking with 528 for now)

Gmusic is also 'doing my head in' now as it seems hell bent on checking the song lengths of 2200 VBR files at a rate of 1 every 5 seconds. Please...<crying into hands now> ...please...just forget about it > htop is my new most used app!

Silliness aside for a moment, RIP Steve :(

Show us how you do, please. I am surprised of that. It's really a good news.

Guayadeque loaded from quickpet Tahrpup for French precise 5.4.3. Its name is ToOppy. Guayadeque will improve on step more the highest quality of its menu.
I have been searching for an application which should read the CDs and files. Aqualung is the only one that fits (hum) my needs, but no pictures of album or artist.
Guayadeque does not seem to be able to read my CD.
One hour later : gayadeque does no read my files .flac
... nervous breakdown soon
Post scriptum MP3 and OGG are listed as choice, not Flac.
